jpepx78
I hope you don't mind me posting here since these pictures are Christmas related. Here is a look back at a time when many stores had elaborate window displays to attract customers during the holidays. Not many stores today have fancy windows displays since there are many other efficient ways of marketing. Some stores have displayed cute pets for adoption from the local animal shelter instead. The huge popularity of Mickey Mouse in the 1930s was commercialized by many promotions of Disney and other products as seen in these McMorran & Washburne department store window displays on December 14 1935. The store was located on 904 Williamette St in Eugene Oregon. View of 3 separate Mickey Mouse displays in a row. Display of kitchen appliances and featuring "Mickey Mouse presents a Christmas Carol". Display of toys and featuring "Mickey Mouse presents Hay Hay". Display of blankets and featuring "Mickey Mouse presents Santa Claus". Display of Eureka vacuum cleaners and featuring "Mickey Mouse presents Joy Bells". Display of baby products and featuring "Mickey Mouse presents the Three Pigs". Sqeggs
Great stuff. Thanks for posting it. There are still some department stores that have elaborate displays. The Herald Square Macy's, for instance.

I really like the art on the early Tom and Jerry Our Gang stories. I mostly buy them for the Barks but enjoy collecting the later issues for Tom and Jerry. BB-Gun
Lots of interesting stuff out there. I think this Rudolph book is listed in the guide. This first edition has the tri-motor airplane on page 9.

Straw-Man
here's a blast from the past; a poem i wrote for the g.a.tor back at christmastime '08. 'twas the day after christmas, and gator grew bored, he wondered and wondered, why're my books all restored? some color touch here, and trimming seen there, "now i see what they mean, about buyer beware". cracked out some high-grade, then pressed and resubbed, 6.5 and now purple, CGC so redubbed. a box sent to mattie, for some resto removal, once more all went purple; 'neath the grader's approval. "from now on for me only original owner collections," still they went purple, after the grader's inspection. "i hate cgc," said the gator frustrated, one more came back purple, "the cover's been mated." "i'll switch over to coins," said the gator with hope, but those, too, have work, you big stoopid dope. so as gator sits, waiting for the last batch, that'll leave him with nothing, but his poor head to scratch. makes a wish for the new year, and prays it comes true, that when he makes a purchase, no more purple, but all BLUE.
