Those are subscription creases. Books were often folded in half for mailing purposes.

 

I know, but I don't think he had a subscription to any titles. No other books present this crease, so I am guessing he folded them. Also Dell tended to print mailing labels on the books themselves for subscriptions. In any event, whether a young boy folding the books or a subscription crease, the grade falls to a 4.0 regardless.
