And I know I've already seen this today - shame about the upper left corner.

You want to see a REAL corner problem? :insane:

I bought this because I owned this comic as a child, and I wanted to relive the memories. Found I remembered almost every panel! Must have read it repeatedly.

So where's the Silver copy? Don't let us pikers scare you off from showing the high grade versions!

I'd post it if I owned it! It's on my list, that's for sure. Great copy, by the way. Classic cover.

I've got plenty of corners like that.

This story was the basis for "The Silver Age" series a few years ago, right?

Mine thoughtfully has "Don't throw away" written in ballpoint on the front cover.

So I didn't.

I wish I had a scan.

I traded away a dozen nice "off the news stand" Showcases from 61 to 84 when I first got back into comics in late 1994. #$%^&* I've replaced most of them, but mostly with rougher copies.

I'm only cheating by a half an hour and it's Monday back east and

should be okay to start posting 61's.

This is one of my nicest 10 centers in my collection and an awesome

Jerry Grandenetti cover. :cloud9:

I hadn't gotten around to shooting my Showcases from 61 up yet. Though my copy is not near as nice as Lee K's. Great book dude!

One of my favorite Kirby panicking crowds -- nice sense of motion in them scattering in all directions, flying hats, etc.

Jack

Yes, this is nice example of the fleeing crowd! My favorite Kirby crowd cover has to be TTA #29. Just look at the details in the faces of the crowds. A true master of his art!

...

There's a seldom seen book, but it's remarkable how often the phrase "iron man" (or men) appears on comic books. I wonder what the first uses were, "real world" and comic book.

I just remembered the answer to my own question.

Men of Iron by Howard Pyle, 1891
