Anyone remember this Mag that came out in 1978? I remember buying it from WHS religiously for years, got this copy from ebay and the memories came flooding back, even the Ads were much better back then. :cloud9:

I remember this issue well. Great read. It had a still from a film called 'The Incredible Melting Man', which I thought looked quite disturbing at the time. Now, of course, you're generally more desensitised to this type of material.

Yeah! It is in there, I had forgotten all about that film until reading this copy.

He was Britain's Howard Rogofsky - the first specialist dealer in American comics in this country (or so I've been told).

I keep in touch with a veteran collector who knew Jepson quite well back in the day. Disappeared off the map before I turned up at Dark They Were and the other specialist places in the late '70s. Not sure if he's even still around, but I'll ask my mate if he remembers anything.

I've got the first 100 or so Starburst issues still. I loved that magazine and bought it religiously - much more than than the odd issues of Fangoria and the other US magazines that infrequently found their way to the newsagents.

I think that Dez was only in charge for the first few issues or so before he moved on to other pastures - Warrior I think.

John Brosnan was the best columnist I've ever read - anywhere.

I should dig those issues out again.

I wonder who did the artwork for the Brian Jepson ad? Wrightson or Brunner linework there. That shading style, anyway.

He looked after Marvel UK before creating Warrior and opening Quality Comics in New Cross.

Might be Bolland, I know he did some artwork for some Ads around about this time.,

Could be - either way it's very good. Who can forget Marshall Rogers work for Comic Showcase?
