eBay Superman #1 @ CGC Blue 1.5

I would much rather have a nicely restored mid grade copy than that...but that is just me

I think I'd rather have this book just as it is. In fact I'm thinking of bidding on it.

hm

R.

I emailed for reserve, but way higher than the book is worth (to me)...

To Do List...

  • Remove the sticker
  • Deacidify the cover
  • Take the book apart and see if there is any way to reattach the centerfold with the original staples
  • Press the Hell of it (Matt Nelson can take care this)
  • Being GA add only a small amount of RED color touch to the back cover
  • Finally send it off to CGC to get a Blue Universal Unrestored 6.0 Fine copy

:gossip: The centerfold isn't detached. The cover is.

And that gargantuan rip might just keep it out of the Fine range.

Exactly. I'm thinking 2.5 if you could get rid of the sticker.

Sticker and long tear aside, the book is not missing any major pieces, this is a huge plus to me. And depending on your goals for the book minimal work could yield fantastic results. I know it would kill the value to many but I would love to float off that sticker, wash out the staining, seal the tear and re attach the cover. It would be a keeper of a book that could be handled safely and enjoyed for years to come without fear of making the tear worse.

No need for CT in my eyes, as that only seems to be putting lipstick on a pig.(not that the supes book is a pig..well you know what I mean) while it would increase the overall grade it would push it into moderate.

What's the reserve on it? $5 less then his BIN? :D

I'd be tempted to have the sticker removed, have it re-certified, and leave it blue.

Yup, a 2.5 grade could makes its value jump $10,000 overnight.

just a thought, if Metro owned it, I assume they had the sticker removal potential evaluated before they sold the book ...and since it sold with the sticker still "in tact", maybe not so removable (shrug)

I asked Steve earlier in the thread if he thought the sticker could be removed. He responded that he believed that it could be.

We don't necessarily know that Metro owned the book, only that they sold it to the current owner. Perhaps they brokered it for the original owner.
