I don't remember the 20 being a Selkirk.. it could have been and I just don't remember... I did get a few from that collection. I bought some directly from Tracy and some on eBay. I do remember being beat out on the Cap #46 on eBay (shown here). That one did come from the Selkirk collection. I guess I remember because I was beat out on it. It sold then for 5000 on eBay, It was a 9.2 then. It later appeared a few years later in a Heritage sale as a 9.4 as it was upgraded (rightly so, in fact it looks 9.6) I remember the pages on those books were mostly bone white.. The collection never received pedigree status, I know Tracy tried to get it, but because the collection was not complete enough it did not. The Selkirk's could be uneven in grade but when they were in high grade they were every bit as good as Mile High's. All the Selkirk's I have seen even if their technical grade were fine or less, the gloss, registration, and color clarity were like Mile High's.

Okay, what the hell happened to the Cap 37 on eBay??????????? :frustrated::frustrated::frustrated:

I was following that one as well. (shrug)

I actually sold some nice books to fund the purchase. Very annoying.

How nice was it?

I amazed that I'm still amazed when I see you post scans as your books are always amazing. But I'm amazed. Again. And probably not for the last time. (worship)

Long-time browser/lurker here... first time poster.

I managed to find a Mystic Comics (1940) #1 today at an antique shop for $2... Unfortunately, the story isn't quite as good as it sounds - it's a coverless copy, and as someone who mostly collects Bronze Age comics, I'm trying to figure out if the copy's complete...

Apologies if this is the wrong spot, but I figured this thread would have the real experts...

My copy has page 1 with the opening of the "Flexo the Rubber Man" story, and a back page with an ad for Marvel Comics and Daring Mystery Comics. I assume this means I am not missing first or last pages, but I suppose it's possible there is a missing contents page, and further ads or other material at the back...

I also wonder how many pages the 3 X's story in the centre runs... My copy has an 8-page story running across the middle of the book, but the stripped-down "Golden Age-style" flow from panel to panel leaves open the possibility that this could have been a 12-page story originally, or that other pages (ads, etc.) could have been in a centrefold that's gone missing.

Does anybody here know this book well enough to give me some insight into how complete this book is? Alternately, can you refer me to a source online where I could do further research?

Finally, I'm located in Canada, but I assume this is not a Canadian white - I have several of those, and the ad I mentioned above suggests to me that this book is a regular US edition. Does that seem a reasonable assumption?

All comments, suggestions and redirects welcomed, and thanks in advance!

Thanks, adamstrange - the link is great, and it looks like the copy is complete.

Now I don't suppose anybody has a loose extra cover hanging around? :-)

Bookend covers? I think the artists were spending too much time in the sewers.

The response that I received from the seller...

Had an unexepected family medical emergency and am a bit overwhelmed with that right now to deal with the auction. Will try to relist the book in a few months.

my apologies,

I suppose it's possible, but when you're 8 days into a 10 day auction that's been bid up to $3850, there's not much to deal with other than shipping the book out to the winning bidder.

yah I noticed it got pulled too. I thought he might have taken an absurd offer offline. Perhaps it will resurface. White pager 9.0 really nice.

Jeff/Dave, where either of you going after it?
