Timely, thanks for sharing your stunning Marvel Mysteries! Its incredible that you could acquire all these gems in only a little over 10 years time! I guess you'll be going after the Marvel Mystery #40 CGC 9.0 Billy Wright copy since your best copy is only a 5.5 EJR

I was going to go after it but a friend of mine on the boards that I owe a favor to also wants it, so I am stepping aside so I do not bid him up. I hope he gets it! :wishluck:

Luckily this one looks like an 8.0 on the front, but a long crease on the back cover killed it.

I feel bad for the poor octopus. :sorry:

Awesome book! Octopi are tough though; arrow to the head and still fighting! ^^

That would be an arrow in the mantle. The brain is lower, behind the eyes. He might have hit the gonad however.

Maybe a teensy bit more than I wanted to know about Aquaman and his pal.

I found my new comic collecting passion and it is in the form of these wonderful 10 cent masterpeices! My first Timely/Golden Age book. I do not think I will go back. Just beautiful. I won this last night. Unfortunately I will only be able to add one of these a month at this rate.... if I am lucky.

Congratulations! I almost bid on that one but then realized I already had it.

I’ve been a voyeur here for a few years (I was never a collector of Golden Age titles but I do love to look). I finally made my one and only golden age acquisition a few years ago to use up some store credit. I overpaid for this at the time (& probably couldn’t even sell it now for what I paid then) but I wanted to say I once owned the highest graded copy of USA #1 (although mine is restored and at the time there were 3 known unrestored 9.0s). Since then a 9.2 has appeared, dammit, but I still like pulling this out to look at from time to time.

Very nice! Oh, before I forget WELCOME TO THE BOARDS!!! :applause:

That U.S.A. #1 is none to shabby, LenSessions. FTR, your copy looks better than the Billy Wright copy if only because it has better color registration (something some of us take into account before pulling the trigger on a book regardless of grade).

BTW, here's my copy. I'll admit that I'm a bit biased; congratulations, and welcome to the 9.0 club:

Your USA is impressive! It is something special, and were it mine I'd gaze at it as often as daily. The Billy Wright copy went higher than I anticipated (others may disagree), but based on the price it brought and recent trends I think these books will hold or go up in value in the short as well as the long term. Thanks for posting!

BTW was Veryzl the buyer of the Church copy? I know he has a nicer copy but it just makes sense that he add that book to his collection.

I'll ask him next time I see him. John may have purchased it since he has so many of the Church Timelys, but Red Raven wasn't discussed the last time he dropped by.

That's a very good question. (thumbs u
