To me, its the comic world version of the weather channel. I highly recommend it and am a subscriber myself.

It’s not a “price guide” it is a record of prices paid. It reflects real sales so from that standpoint it is spot on accurate.

The more sales recorded the more one can get an idea of the value of the individual book in that grade. A book that only has one copy in a particular grade listed that sold 4 years ago is not going to give you as accurate a picture of the market for that book as say a book that is selling constantly. In other words it is great for seeing what the hot books on e-bay are selling for but if you are looking at a rare or seldom sold book take the info with a grain of salt.

All that being said I love GPA, it is a fantastic tool.

Except they don't buy into global warming melting all the plastic slabs krap.

If GPA is the Weather channel and they are recording extraordinary weather would you still go out and get yourself blown away or should you batten down the hatches, count your coins and keep your treasure dry?

Its information and how you use it will determine if you save money.

I like it so far, but some signature series issues I have aren't listed and so I take a risk sometimes buying them, however I love SS slabs!!! Thats pretty much my cup of tea as of right now!

Again thanks for the warm hospitality on the site!!

A lot of SS issues may never even make it to the sites that GPA collect info from, or moreso never sell. You have to use a lot of judgement when buying SS books, a Jim Lee sig is going to be more readily available than say a Neil Gaiman sig or a Kelley Jones sig, then take into account the actual book that's been signed and sort of do your own math.

Basically though if you want the book and are willing to pay the asking price then it's worth it (thumbs u

I love GPA but I also like to check completed Ebay auctions, other auction site results and some of the big dealers. Information is key when buying comics.

how do you check completed ebay auctions?i havent figured that one out yet.please advise...

Under the Advanced Search feature at the top of the eBay screen, choose Completed Auctions and it will show the last week's sales.

GPA also has lots of great stuff along with price recording of past sales. I've been with GPA for years and didn't know about it till recently myself.

There is the Live Auction section which has direct links to any books being auctioned from the titles listed and then there is the My Comics section which allows you to keep track of all titles and issues that you own along with GPA data and your own personal valuation data.

Pretty neat stuff.

I used to think GPA was not really that big of a deal. But after buying and selling a few books here on the boards I have come to love it.

Beachbum helped nudge me over the edge to subscribe and I am glad I did.

I use it almost every day. (thumbs u
