(on iPhone in the hot sun waiting ina big line for Jim Lee)

You're right my LCS only ordered a 1/2 dozen. He felt they wouldn't be popular I was happy to get one. They had a limit of 5 books. Flet like having my wife pick up another 5 books but didn't want to be greedy. I did get 60 books for 6.00 he had long boxes of books from the past couple years there for ten cents each.

Same thing here as well. Went to 4 shops and came up empty. Spoke with one owner and he said he only ordered 25 becuase he didn't think it'd be too popular. They were gone in the 1st 15 minutes of the day, to 25 different people.

I was surprised to see so many woman outside looking through the long boxes but then I read your post that they were free. :)

When I was in line to make a purchase there were two girls in front of me that

were buying comics. One of them was picking up her pulled comics. Usually

when I am in a shop its the Dads bringing in the kids, but yesterday there were

a lot of Moms that made the trip to the LCS. Hopefully the image of the comic

book store is turning around and becoming a more family-oriented destination. :)

My neighboorhood LCS did the day up properly.

Cooked weenies on the parking lot, chips and drinks FOC,

big stacks of freebies, owner coughed up the money for

FCBD shirts for the staff and additional help and had a

good sales day. I stopped in about 10am to grab a new

OPG, things were humming and the small shop was

packed, dropped by again late in the afternoon when the

smoke had cleared. Tails were dragging from all the work.

Poor babies.

Mr.Bedrock and I can both trace our shop roots back to this place,

although 2 owners, 2 relocations, and about 20+ years ago.

Glen owned Happy Trails, where Ricky and I both started,

Glen moved the store, Ricky started his Bedrock City empire,

I started Presto Comics and Towards2112, Terry bought the store from Glen,

renamed it Eastside Comics, Terry moved to a smaller shop

in the same stripcenter, sold to the new owner and was renamed.

They did the FCBD last year and were slightly dissappointed, but

looks like things have turned around !
