Predict The CGC Grade

This thread got buried quickly but I like the idea so here goes. These are being mailed to CGC this weekend.

 

I'll see if anyone wants to venture a guess on grades before I post what I expect the grades to be.

 

My expected grades:

FF 112 - 9.4

Subby 1 - 9.4

SS 4 - 8.0

Planet 56 - 8.0

IM & Subby 1 - 9.4

If that diagonal line that runs through the book is on the scanner I'll go 9.4, if it's on the book :frustrated: I'm thinking 6.0

The best chance for the 9.4 is the IMSM.

 

Planet comics: 7.5.

 

FF 112: 9.2

SS 4 : 9.2

Subby 1: 9.0

Planet: 7.5

IMSM: 9.2 with a STRONG possibility 9.4.

 

Disclaimer: Only can see front covers. Scans are HARD to do grading, and opinions can vary widely. Would like to see back cover of IMSM: the "marvel chipping" is prevalent upper left back cover: 1/16" chip usually missing. Also the splash page lower left side has green dist. ink sprayed in various ways.

The Surfer 4 looks alot nicer than your assigned grade. Is there a problem with either lower corner that I'm missing from the FC scan?

 

P.S.: As for the TOS44, the diagonal crease is indeed on the book.

FF #112 I'll say 9.2 because of the scratch in the middle

Subby #1 9.2 Scratch top, ink and miscut, spine crease at top staple

SS #4 I'll say a 9.2 That one looks great. And a square back to boot.

Don't Planet well enough

IM & Subby 9.4 Possibly a 9.6 if 2 of the graders got some that morning

 

All IMHO's of course.

I'm gonna say a 5.5-6.0 CGC used to light books up with full length creases. Don't know if they still do. If they have lightened up a bit, 7.5

That's a shame Bob, it's a gorgeous book. The SS 4 does indeed have some damage to the bottom of the front cover that is hard to spot in the scan, yellow part of the bridge. I'm probably being too harsh on the grade (shrug)
