A Great Sampler of Kirby's Fourth World series from 1971-1974

NOW SOLD!

  1. Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #138 "The Big Boom!" with the Newsboy Legion. Fine condition: slight wear along the right hand edge, and a 1/4 inch tear near the lower right corner of the back cover.
  2. Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #148 features a Neal Adams cover, and is the final Kirby issue of Jimmy Olsen. Also includes a Golden Age Simon & Kirby Newsboy Legion reprint from Star-Spangled Comics #14 (1942).  Very Good / Fine condition: there is a crease at the upper right corner of the front cover, and minor wear along the right hand edge of the front cover.
  3. The Forever People #9 Deadman crosses over to the Forever People.  Also features a Golden Age Simon & Kirby Sandman reprint from Adventure Comics #74 (1942).  Fine condition: the major defect here is a 25 cent price stamp on the back cover that was subsequently covered up with white-out (a previous seller must have had second thoughts about that price!)
  4. The New Gods #9 first appearance of  "The Bug" Forager as well as the first appearance of the All-Widow.   Also features a Golden Age Simon & Kirby Manhunter reprint from Adventure Comics #78 (1942). Very Good / Fine condition: color-breaking crease at the upper right corner of the front cover. "15" written in the W of the New Gods cover logo.  Minor soiling on the back cover.
  5. The Forever People #10 conclusion of the Deadman crossover.  Fine condition: there is some mild spotting on the back cover (possibly foxing, but very uniform).
  6. The New Gods #10 Forager appears.  Fine condition, slight wear along the right hand edge of the front cover.
  7. The Forever People #11 Final Kirby issue.  Darkseid appears.  Fine Minus condition: some color-breaking creases at the lower right corner of the front cover.
  8. Mister Miracle #13 with Barda.  Fine condition: some spine tic marks, and mild soiling around the edges of the back cover.
  9. Mister Miracle #18 Final Kirby issue.  Darkseid, Orion, Highfather, Lightray and Metron make cameo appearances.  Very Good / Fine condition: mild creasing at the upper right corner of the front cover.  There are also some indents on the front cover, horizontally through Darkseid's shadow, possibly the result of this issue being at the top of a stack of bound copies delivered to the newstand back in the day,

Justice League of America #100 #101 #102 featuring the Justice Society of America & the Return of the Seven Soldiers of Victory   SOLD!

From 1972:

This is the 9th annual team-up between the Justice League of America and the Justice Society of America, this time joined for the first time by the Seven Soldiers of Victory.  All 3 issues feature covers by Nick Cardy, are written by Len Wein, with interior art by Dick_Dillin and Joe Giella.    Dick_Giordano also contributed inking to #102.  In addition to the regular JLA team, this storyline features a number of guest-stars.  The characters include:

From the Justice League:
  • Superman
  • Batman
  • Green Arrow
  • Black Canary
  • Diana Prince, Wonder Woman (former member, at this point de-powered)
  • Green Lantern

  • Hawkman
  • Aquaman
  • The Atom
  • J'onn J'onzz (cameo, former member)
  • Snapper Carr (cameo, former member)

  • Green Lantern
From the Seven Soldiers of Victory:
  • Shining Knight
  • Crimson Avenger
  • Vigilante
  • Star-Spangled Kid
  • Stripesy
  • Green Arrow
  • Speedy

The condition of these comics averages Very Fine Minus:  all are complete, all staples are intact, free from rust, and hold all pages and covers together.  No water damage, no staining.  No spine splits.  Details follow:
#100 is slightly mis-cut at the printers: note the sliver of uncolored paper along the top edge of the front cover, and a portion of the bottom row of text that is cut off.  There is a tiny nick on the right hand edge of the front cover, approximately 1/3 of the way down from the top.  The back cover of this issue is more tanned than the other two.  This one grades Very Fine Minus.
#101 has a very slight color-breaking crease at the upper right hand corner of the front cover.  Call it Fine / Very Fine.
#102 has very slight wear around the edges of the front cover, and very faint fingerprint smudges on the back cover.  There are 2 horizontal production creases on the back cover. I grade it as Very Fine.
