Covers like THIS make me think about starting to collect WAR comics

Didn't someone here do a list of the top twenty war covers that forum members voted on!?

It may have been in the Golden Age section.

 

I think that was me. It started with Round 1 with the top 100 war comic covers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

And here's the top 11 in Round 8

 

 

The top 100 was debatable and many folks chimed in later with additional covers that should have been represented. I will probably do another event like this one, perhaps with a twist of some sort. It was a lot of fun for me and many others as well.

I am a fan of Sgt.Rock. I have a few that I just love the covers, would love to get them in 9.4+. There is one cover I ahve that is my favorite though, figured it would have been posted by now.

I love GIC #69. There are other, very similar covers, but I think it's the best.

If you want to get an overload of killer war comic covers, just check the war thread over on the Silver age forum (and for that matter, on the bronze forum as well... and the copper!)

 

Amazing books, great commentary, and some of the nicest, most knowledgeable collectors. And the incredible copies that show up there are just bananas.

As a bit of an aside, it may also have a subconscious appeal in that the artistic style "mimics" the single colour 1940s editorial/gag cartoon style of using

wax crayon on rough (coquille) paper... making the image feel vintage.
