Anybody? (shrug)

Now seriously, Chuck R. from Mile High says it was over 1 million copies.

But then again, this was an article he wrote talking up why it was so amazing he had a Wolverine: Origins 1 CGC 10.0 which he sold for $1,000.

Found this interesting while searching though that the book with the largest printing that broke a Guiness record:

Guinness World Records present "The record for the Best Selling Comic, Single Edition is Spider-Man No.1 (first published in 1990 with an initial print run of 2.35 million) Stan Lee, creator, and Todd McFarlane (USA) writer and illustrator of the edition.

Stand catalog of comic books has the Capital City circulation, which they say is 15% of the print run.

Spawn #1 204,760

Spawn #2 137,025

Spawn #3 136,600

Spawn #4 135,875

Spawn #5 124,675

Spawn #6 132,975

Spawn #7 143,225

Spawn #8 225,675

Spawn #9 204,600

Spawn #10 210,500

Spawn #11 234,150

Spawn #12 225,150

Spawn #13 207,400

Spider-Man #1 1990 426,200

Tribe #1 220,900

Wilcats #1 281,850

Youngblood #0 154,000

Youngblood #1 78,450

So if that is close to a good estimate, than the books over 200,000 per Capital City had print runs of over 1 Million per issue.

Spawn 11 and 12 seem to of been at the peak of the speculation, oh that Tribe #1 turned into a winner also.

Great data reference, as I've never been able to find the actual numbers.

Thanks!

There was a book published by TWOMORROWS all about the Image creators, outlining how they got together, and why, and each creator discussed the evolution of their books and there was some information about print runs of various books.

I do recall the printrun for Youngblood quoted at 900,000.

Shadowhawk was 500,000

Spawn #1 was over 1 million copies, and believe it or not, PITT #1 was 1 million copies.

Don't recall the book containing circulation on The Tribe, Savage Dragon, Wildcats, The MAXX, Union, Hellshock, etc.

Found it!

1.7 million copies of Spawn 1 were produced.

http://www.spawn.com/info/todd/bio.long.aspx

"When the first issue of Spawn was shipped in May 1992, it sold 1.7 million copies, making it the best-selling independent comic book to date."

WOW! :o no wonder these issue's are in the DOLLAR bins! :insane:
