So many great covers that bring back a flood of memories.

I chose

#7 my favorite of all and a grail book..Wally Wood is one of the greatest artists of all time.

#16 first Romita Spidey and a terrific story

#18 I'm in love with this book. Gladiator looks to intimidating.

#48 my earliest recollection of owning a SA book and a gorgeous sunset cover

#91 my favorite black picture frame and a great use of purple and black

#126 an iconic Daredevil post

#129 love the Man Bull.

#158 Frank Miller....nuff said.

#181 Frank Miller....nuff said.

#191 Frank Miller at his greatest. Talking about leaving in your prime.

Bob Brown was a master at making Daredevil look lithe and fluid. Janson's inks aren't too shabby either. He could make anybody look good.

Looks like right now 7 and 16 are the top two

My own picks: 16,158. 165, 168, 175, 189, 200, 249, 319, 324

Janson is an aquired taste.

Really. I never thought about him that way.

When I think of comic art, his type of inks come to mind first and foremost.

In fact I realized that what I liked most about the Miller run was Janson's inks. Sure Miller rocks and will always be one of my favorite creators, but I don't think anyone else's inks did Miller's pencils justice like KJ although I didn't realize this initially. I thought it was Miller's pencils until I started paying attention and found out that he was inking Bob Brown's pencils with the same "feel".

Amazing how people see things differently.

Looking throught them I realized that as much as I liked Miller's DD run - his covers , while decent, weren't really exceptional. Silver Age seems to be getting most of the love, but browsing through the covers on comics.org, I saw a lot of great covers from the 90s that I hadn't noticed before.

Mazzuchelli did some nice covers in the 80's as well.

Great poll!

Here's my top ten based on cover alone, though some of the inside material will be bound to influence a bit.

#4 Purple Man! Plus one of the most dynamic in terms of perspective. Also filled with the most action of the first few issues.

#7 A great cover underwater. It is very cool that Wally Wood got to draw for Marvel.

#13 Total Kirby cover! Awesome!!

#130 Skull cover!

#146 Bullseye at the TV station. Great expressions and it really shows how crazy Bullseye is.

#180 Sewer monster hands...This has one of my favorite stories in it. A large portion of this comic has no dialogue, very silent, similar to GI Joe #21.

#189 Total Frank Miller! Ninjas and arrows and high contrast artwork.

#220 Fog! Beautiful Mazzucchelli cover! Very atmospheric!

#230 My favorite cover of the 7 issues of this storyline. The character in the price box makes this one so unique. "Born Again" is one of the best story arcs I have ever read in comics.

#319 "Fall From Grace" starts....So unique in its simplicity. Not the best storyline, but a great cover!

I say that, Roy, because so many don't like Janson's inks. Again, I love them, but his unique thick and bulbous line is not for everyone.

Okay, I should be in bed, but here goes:

4- the first great DD cover

7- does this need explaining?

8- dynamic pose, Wood lines

43- one of my favorite comic book covers of all time. truly iconic

182- captures the angst of the book

183- back to back covers, you say? Miller, I say.

189- with a side of Ninjas. Yes, please!

217- another classic pose cover, this time by the incomperable BWS

230- Born Again. In this one iconic image, Miller captures the frailty and despair of the title character.

304- another classic pose

I love DD covers. I could have easily expanded this to fifty or so.

Also, as much as I hate Joe Quesada, if the poll had been expanded to volume 2, now 1 again, I would have chosen his atmospheric cover with DD hanging onto the crossed tombstone. So good, they used the image in the film.

Ok, first off Roy, where was the love on that "Favorite Artists Thread?" I think I was the only one who put Wally Wood. Glad to hear you are also a fan. (thumbs u

#1 (Sorry Torch, maybe it is cause it is his 1st app, but I get a warm fuzzy feeling whenever I see it!)

#7 (It is just such a classic cover, maybe I'm bias cause it is just so coveted in high grade due to the color.)

#16 (Classic first meeting cover!)

#18 (Full agreement with Roy on this one. It is just such an eerie, unique cover. I feel like I'm there struggling with DD!)

#27 (I am a sucker for a yellow cover, just like on Spidey #129. Something about it makes it look so intriguing to pick up and read.)

#43 (Love the perspective taken....and its got Cap!)

#55 (Like many boardies are saying in the current DD thread, this just shows that DD is a lot about personal struggles that mentally weigh him down.)

#99 (Has three of my FAVORITE Marvel characters - Game/Set/Match!)

#130 (Just such an ominous cover for DD. That black, white and red just look so tough together!)

#159 (I think just another cool underwater cover, granted the spread about the inner-workings of his billy clubs was so cool the first time I read it!)
