Not mine, just thought it was quite interesting.

Edgar Church bought, stored & owned the now famous Edgar Church/Mile High collection that contained 18,000+ perfect comic books from 1936-1955. He did so to help his art career.

 

Judging from that painting, his art career needed some serious help.

I think that's unfair! Its really not that bad. Composition is good, colors are decent. A bit stiff maybe. Nice fundamentals but not much finish perhaps.

 

Certainly not worth the 9200 asking price lol but not that horrible either.

I think it's a very attractive illustration.

 

Not that I would pay $9,200 for it, but I think it's a decent work of art.

And he was young when he painted it. Late twenties.

A few years ago at the SD Comicon, Chuck had hundreds of pen and ink logos and illustrations Church had done in his graphic design career and they were beautiful. None of them were for sale though, but I would love to have one of these pieces simply for historical purposes.

It looks like nice work to me, just representative of its time. You don't get Witchblade in 1917.
