Exciting Comics #33 in 2.0, maybe 2.5. Stunner of a Schomburg Black Terror war cover. An issue not often up for sale, and priced a touch aggressively to reflect that...these have been red hot lately. Nice green-logo book with deep cover inks and excellent gloss. Harsh (& conservative) technical grade; the eye appeal is certainly better than a Good. Cover wrap is detached at the single staple. There's a not-quite-two-inch tear in the LLC, clean and pretty much invisible. Bright supple pages. Not eager to see it go. :)

Dark Mysteries #19 in 2.5. Classic girl-tortured-by-grinning-skeletons cover! Looks much better than grade; cover wrap is detached at bottom staple, barely hanging on at top staple. Wild stories inside!... the first of which has a splash page which is an even racier version of the cover. Very tough precode horror issue.

Menace 2 in 1.5. Reading copy of this fairly scarce Atlas, with a cool Everett cover. Well above average contents and art... among other things, an anti-communist story with some nasty torture scenes. Horror/sci-fi stories written by Stan Lee. Cover wrap has discreet archival tape (mostly) sealing a full split, & is detached from book. Great read, tough book in any grade.

All-True Romances #13 in 3.5. Without a doubt the sleaziest precode "romance" comic I've ever read...from the cover (what says "true romance" more than busty babes and heavy drinking?), to the contents (among other things, several pretty intense rape attempt scenes, on the first splash page and beyond)... wild that kids could buy this off the stands in 1953. Solid, fairly attractive copy of what I'd guess is an uncommon book.

:hi: Ryan!

Blue Beetle #22 in 3.0/3.5. This WWII book is the poster child for "lame cover, cool interiors". Kicks off with a fantastic, beautifully drawn Chas (Catman) Quinlan story where Blue Beetle meets Hitler, finds out that he's Satan in disguise, and ends up tearing off his mustache! Check out this page. There's a second Blue Beetle story drawn by Quinlan too. There's also two very unusual pro-Russian war stories -- one about Russian female paratroopers, and one about Russian "girl guerillas" vs the Germans -- as well as other cool features.

Terrifying Tales #13 in apparent 3.0/3.5. Classic LB Cole GGA cover with sexy Rulah stories inside (a quite remarkable number of lovely ladies running around in leopard bikinis). There's some odd-but-discreet purple color touch near the right edge, for no good reason, and some spotting in the gloss. Presents better than the strict grade.

Startling Terror Tales #14 in 6.0/6.5. Gorgeous copy of this black LB Cole cover. Beautiful flat book dripping with gloss, rich inks; actually looks a bit better than grade. Very tough to find this nice.

Thrilling Comics #47, reading copy. Neat Schomburg WWII cover. Real pretty cover, but interior is unfortunately missing a story page, and some interior pages are a bit askew because of tears at bottom spine. Blowout price... heck, the cover wrap alone should be worth more than this.

Hangman #4, reading copy. Missing centerfold, rough but fairly solid copy with archival tape on entire spine. Outrageous war stories throughout, including one that features a Nazi robot dinosaur (!). Classic WWII MLJ, real tough to find.

A few comics still to come, but let's switch gears and get a few pulps up.

Secret Service Operator #5, November 1938. Very cool title with a great painted cover. Probably no better than Good due to overall wear, chips out at spine corners, some chips & dirt on back, but still decent shape (esp for a 1938 book) with good cover and spine colors.

Future, November 1950. Cool sci-fi cover. Cover looks pretty decent, solid book, but spine somewhat frayed with chipping at each end, and back cover was split & reglued. (This is a different copy than the one I sold in the last VCC, though it looks near-identical.) Beautiful splash spread illo by Finlay.

Startling Stories, Summer 1944. Awesome zombie cover... Walking Dead prototype ish? :) Nice colors and crisp spine, but interior covers have some tanning and cover stock is somewhat weak/chippy on the edges. Still pretty decent.
