I prefer to wait till I contact the buyer, and give him the privilege to tell his story, in the case that he was not warned, and he cares about this fact.

 

I don't want to get in innecessary trouble.

 

But a sentence that he told me turned on all the alarms:

"The issue with the Dune artwork is simple, do you want to buy the artwork you see, or not .... your decision entirely."

 

The Dunegate refers to when the new art dealer sold me production copies of a couple of Dune covers like if they were the original paintings, with NO warning. With this kind of mentality, I fear the worst...

You'll still find productions copies offered like if they were the original paintings, with no warning or description like this one:

Dune book cover.

 

How do I know? Check this comparation (image at left is the full painting, and the image in the middle is a photographic copy with retouches painted on it):

In other cases, retouches were smaller, but still were offered without description or warning.

 

In this link you'll find the Heritage auction where the full painting was sold:

As it can be seen, the production copy is offered at Sienkiewicz's site at double the price it was sold the original painting in Heritage a couple of years ago.

As far as this guy Ferran is concerned, when the issue with the Sienkiewicz original

was brought to my attention he was given a 100 percent refund no questions asked

(Over 2 years ago?)

 

I had to file a chargeback to get my money back, after hostile and manipulative replies from this guy Sal.

 

As anyone can check with the production copy of the Dune cover that I commented earlier in this thread and the links I provided, he's using the same practices 2 years later...

 

Just ask many of the fans who paid in advance for comissions, and contact Mitch, about Sal's behaviour. He has earned his awful reputation all by himself.

I'd like to forget that issue and you, but I can't, since you're still doing the same mess that you did to me 2 years ago, which is to sell production copies for $2,000 as if they were the original full paintings.

 

I think that it's my duty to avoid that someone else get cheated by you like I was.

 

You're showing your real face when you have the guts to say that I got a "full refund no questions asked" when I had to open a PayPal dispute to get back my $3,000.

 

Your cynicism is unlimited.

I appreciate threads like this. Next year I was thinking about getting more OA rather than just sketchcovers...........this thread clearly showed me who to avoid working with.

 

Too bad nobody quoted his responses.

I have all of his comments stored in my mail box, since I have this thread tracked. And I also keep the PayPal statements of the dispute.

 

I just want that he adds a FULL description in the Dune Production Cover WARNING that it's a production copy. Specifically, a photographic copy of the original painting with painted retouches on it.

 

And the same for all the similar pieces.

Since Sal decided to post comments and to delete them immediately in order to contact anyone who has tracked ths topic leaving no proof here, this time playing victim, I'm posting the invoices of the PayPal dispute. Let's see how he tries to deny evidences.

 

It looks like he's not too interested to add an accurate description to the Dune production copy, either.

 

The invoices are in spanish, sorry. Any online translator will allow you to get the point.

 

Anyone interested on Sal's deleted comments, contact me via private message. I also can forward the original PayPal mails to check that they are authentic.
