Welcome to the inaugural Survivor Series for EC comics!

 

Previously, I had asked people to nominate their favorite EC comic covers. I've taken every one of those covers and included them here in this post. There are a total of 84 covers that we are starting with. Please don't be upset at me for not including your favorite cover, you had your chance when I ran the nomination thread.

 

If you hover your mouse over the thumbnail picture, you can see the name and issue number of the comic. Click on the thumbnail if you wish to see the full-size scan.

 

The poll is at the bottom of this post.

 

The goal is to determine the greatest EC cover of all time. We will be voting off our 24 least favorite covers from the list provided.

 

This is the first time we've had a Survivor Series for EC Comics and I never really knew too much about them before. Now that I've been exposed to them, I can see just from the covers how wonderful these books are. I've even heard that the insides can be decent too.

 

This is an 8-round marathon. These rounds will last 2 days each. We'll vote off 24 in round 1, 20 in round 2, 20 in round 3, 10 in round 4, 5 in round 5, 2 in round 6, 1 in round 7, and then the final showdown to crown our champion.

 

I'll repeat once more, please vote for your least favorite covers here.

 

Lastly, after you vote, let's hear your thoughts on the contest.

Fun thread!

 

Was harder on the Sci-Fi, and easier on War and New Direction than I expected. Ghasty horror is my favorite, but Craig and Kurtzman each have a couple of strong contenders!

There were only a handful of books that were easy discards. Already there are sacrifices and tough choices being made....

Thanks for upgrading the scan for Piracy #3. I had nominated it, but my copy was low grade and the scan was too small. I don't actually own the book any more so I couldn't rescan it.

 

Reed Crandall was an incredible artist, but he obviously borrowed heavily from Howard Pyle for that cover.

I didn't see this thead either... A lot of the best EC covers are missing....(I'm sorry to say)...here's the best frontline comics cover in my opinion...

Anyway a lot of excellent covers to still choose so I'm not complaining really...It's a great thread... (thumbs u
