By the way JC, where did that pic come from?

That's an actual photo from the company who is doing the FX for the Ghost Rider film. Obviously they're going to CGI-it to heck, but that's apparently the base image for GR... or as I call him, Twisted Sister. 27_laughing.gif

The story behind that picture is YEARS ago, an fx company came up with that to show suits what it could look like. Thats all, it was a visual sketch.

Please don't let it be so.

A nicer spin on essentially what I said. It was more than a "lark" but an actual pitch to show the HW suits they were the right company for the job.

It WAS a serious effort at the Ghost Rider likeness.

That's exactly why a very high grade copy of this book is hard to find: a stiff character that has had no traction, a black cover, a period of time where Marvels in high grade at all are hard to find, and a general apathy in the buying public for a long time. I don't think there are lots of this book in high grade, I just don't - I NEVER see high grade copies of this

IMHO I think we'll see a lot more 9.2+ MS 5s on the census in the years to come. As I've heard greggy & murph mention, they've seen (owned?) questionable NM CGC copies of the book. Apparently, CGC grades it leniently being a black cover book & all. confused-smiley-013.gif

Pointing out an abnormality is just that.. pointing out something irregular. I don't know what it was about this book, but for some reason the bidding went nuts. Someone offered me a 9.4 of this book a few weeks ago for 800 dollars, I passed as I already have my "keeper". So, unless this is the start of something new, don't look for this to be a regular sight as 9.2's regularly sell for 250-350.

Yeah...there have been gifts given on this book. My previous 9.4 was bought as a VF from the comic store! shocked.gif

Very interesting! What was your own assessment on the grade before slabbing? And didn't Bronty sell an overgraded CGC 9.4 MS 5 to murph? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Pre-graded as a 9.0. Bronty bought a POS book from murph! tongue.gif

Yep that 9.6 of greggy's I didn't think deserved a 9.0 893whatthe.gif

And I sold that POS 9.4.... couldn't handle the sh 893censored-thumb.gifeice PQ

The 9.4 deserved a 9.0! tongue.gif

Price keeps rising which wouldn't indicate that supply can't meet demand which to me means it isn't common.

Watch out boys, it seems we have an Economics professor on here. 27_laughing.gif

OK JC, if current record prices from Golden to Modern 1980 keys aren't based on a supply that can't meet the high demand what are they based on? Comics don't continue to go up in value because people believe they are plentiful do they? Lay some of your comic wisdom on us in this matter. This should be good.
