What book would you buy for 5k to 7k?

For that much $$, I'd want a book that was pretty much guaranteed

to at least keep its value. Which means one of the more "always in demand"

books.

 

You did't say whether you're more into SA or GA, but in GA, my thoughts run to these types ...

 

Phantom Lady 17

Blue Beetle 54

Brenda Starr 14

Crime Does Not Pay 24

Harvey Comics Library 1 (aka Teen-Age Dope Slaves)

Human Torch 12

Startling 49

Mad 1

 

Lots of possibilities.

Well, I've begun selling off some lesser books and hope to generate about $5,000 to 7,000 to put towards a cornerstone book for my collection.

 

I'm interested to hear what book you would buy....

 

Based on everyones opinion what book would you buy between 5-7k :grin:

 

The books that come to mind are:

 

All Star 3, 8

Action 12

Adventure 40

Tec 35 (would really love a 31 but not going to happen)

Marvel Mystery 9

I think he also has to decide if he just wants a mega key or a cornerstone book. Here is my take on the two.

 

Cornerstone book- The book that lays the foundation for your collection. Examples being Adventure #40 for a gloldenage Sandman collector. Suspense #3 for a classic cover collector. This should be something that YOU love and from be part of a run/niche or character you will continue to collect as this is your main focus.

 

Mega Key- You want to own the biggest baddest key you can in the comic world. You will probably set your sights on a few books and then pick the one that appeals to you the most.
