Have you ever seen a ghost?

Judge much?

I did not discredit your story Roy. I completely believe that Lou did sense the little asian man. I just don't agree that it was the actual "ghost" of the little asian man, but more likely a spirit that had attatched itself to him, perhaps for years and years while he was alive.....and then became a fixture and a territorial spirit in that house after he had passed. <3

The only thing that keeps me out of the "I am positive there is no paranormal" camp, is the fact that so many people have so many different ranges of abilities and senses. It is possible that only some people are capable of experiencing the paranormal, the same way that only some people can hear certain high frequencies or pull multiple distinct scents from the bouquet of a red wine.

This is how I'd explain it as well.

I think more than just physical senses, certain types of personalities are more in tune to those things that most of us miss or gloss over.

For example, women will have the ability to catch the mood in a room, or read subtle body language, or sense when someone is changing moods even when the physical signs are almost nil whereas men (like me) just trample over everything and turn on the TV to watch the football game etc.

For example, how do some people know when they are being stared at from behind?

There's definitely something deeper than just the physical stuff we see with our naked eyes.

see what years and years of drugs do to the human mind????

My wife has seen a few, I have not been with her on those occasions. hm

But, we recently left a digital recorder in a house we are "investigating" as an experiment into listening for something. We have 20 hours of recording and have heard many very odd and unexplainable sounds.

What does it mean? Not sure yet, but it is something we have gotten into lately. We watch all the prerequisite paranormal shows. Have gone on ghost tours and jail tours in Charleston, SC.

Our next thing is staying in a haunted bed and breakfast in the old Battery of Charleston. If nothing else, the "other world" has given us something to do together.

Like other life in the universe, it is hard for me to understand that there is not more to this grand world we live in than being born, eating and then passing away.

No.....no ghosts. (to be absent from the body is to be present with The Lord)

Yes.....yes to spirits

Yes.... to angels or ministering spirits of The Creator

Yes ... to fallen angels or ministering spirits of The Liar

Yes .... to territorial spirits who reside is certain places and have particular boundaries.

Yes... territorial spirits can be sensed by people who move into their territories

Yes....light always disperses darkness.

Yes....territorial spirits can be displaced by Creator spirit

Yes.....ghost stories, speculations and questions are fun

No....most people do not really want to walk in faith

If you believe in spirits, you believe in ghosts. They are one and the same.

At the expense of being laughed at, this is a true story that I can share 'cause you asked.

I personally haven't, but I know someone that has, and sees them regularly (meaning if they are around they notice them). I think some people are predisposed to that sort of thing where they see beyond what the human eye can see. I also think women are more predisposed to this sort of thing than men are. I have a tough time believing this but this is out the story goes as I remember it:

Lou used to have a tough time in her old home. For some reason, even though she lived there for nearly 4 years she never settled in there. There was always something that made her uneasy in the house. She would hear noises, feel like she wasn't alone and just generally felt uneasy about the presence of something else that she could feel but couldn't explain.

In the evenings she would sit in her living room and there was a presence of some sort at the top of the stairs leading into the bedrooms. She didn't really pay a lot of attention to it at first (she tried to block it out, actually as it was unnerving) as it's one of those things that you are not sure if they are actually happening or not but over the years strange things began to happen.

Creaking noises, water or lights being turned on that she didn't remember. Just really odd things.

Now stuff like this is enough to make you think you are going batty but Lou soon came to recognize that the "presence" was really a small figure at the top of the stairs. Lou described it to me as a small, little child or a small lady sitting at the top of the stairs watching and just waiting up there.

hm

I'm a very logical person and tried to explain it away to Lou as her imagination when we talked about. I'd even been over many times but never noticed anything. The odd time there was either water left running or a light left on and Lou or I couldn't remember if we had done it or not, so I just chalked it up to our forgetfulness and moved on. Sounds one sided enough, right? Lou is imagining things, right? But this is where it gets messed up for me...

When her mom Fiona came over one day (and at this point Lou had not said anything about her experiences to her mom), Fiona noticed it as well. She nonchalantly mentioned to Lou about the little man sitting on the top of the stairs and wondered if Lou and noticed him.

:o

Lou's sister Samantha also noticed the figure. Sam would come over some evenings to babysit Lou's kids and do her laundry and Sam noticed this figure standing in a doorway watching Sam. Sam said that she had the feeling that the figure was wondering what she was doing in Lou's house. lol

It turns out that the ghost (or whatever you want to call it) was doing more than just "being" there. It was disturbing Lou's family. :fear:

Lou's son Julian would wake up at night scared. He would run into Lou's room as fast as he could and say that he felt someone's hands on him. Other nights Lou would walk into Julian's room to check on him and she'd find him either huddled in his bed under his cover (fully asleep) and clutching the bed with all his might as though he was being pulled away or he would actually be under his bed asleep.

Even though Lou never, ever told her kids what she had seen or heard it, Lou's kids also noticed the presence.

It became really tough for Lou and her family. Julian was not sleeping at night, so he was exhausted during the day. You have to understand that Julian is a deep sleeper and sleeps like the dead so this is very uncharacteristic of him.

The only reason I can explain that Sophie, Lou's daughter wasn't disturbed by this, was that she is a very strong, definite personality and just wouldn't take none of it. She's a no-nonsense person.

Julian is more like his mom...really easy going, fun loving and generally light and very different than Sophie.

It got to the point that it was affecting their every day lives.

So they talked about it, and Lou actually counseled with someone on how to deal with this. It turns out that someone that Lou had worked with had similar problems. Lou spoke to this someone named Crysta, and Crysta referred her to someone named Dora. Louise got hold of Dora on the phone and Dora (who knew no details about what was going on) asked Louise about the little man sitting at the top of her stairs.

:tonofbricks:

Finally, after dealing with this for some time, Lou found out from a neighbor that 3 years prior to her moving in that a small, older Asian man has passed away of natural causes in the house, upstairs in Julian's room no less.

Lou, and Lou's family (and Dora) all believe that the ghost was this small, elderly Asian man who was stuck in the house.

Now you can laugh all you want, but this was pretty freaking real in the 4 years that it was going on.

There it is in a nutshell.

Roy, did Lou sell the house because of the man on the stairs? I wonder if the current owners are having similar experiences.

Wow! Nearmint picked a winner of a topic. I left for a 2-hour business meeting and there are well over 100 posts to catch up on.

Stanley Hotel, Estes Park, Colorado, Photo #5.\

What's interesting about this is that even though it initially looks like the camera moved, only the lights are blurred. None of the solid material around them.

Doug, it definitely was interesting when I opened this file on my computer after the Stanley Hotel trip. I even called the hotel to ask questions, which they said was not that uncommon.

Ghosts or not, the place has character.

I hate drugs. Smoked a little weed over my 40 years and never liked it.

Now what do they do for fun in Kentucky?

She sold the house because we moved on to the next step of our relationship (we were living in separate cities at the time).

No idea on the new owners.

There is nothing extraordinary about this photo. It takes much less exposure for the lights to register, making them far more likely to leave light trails on the image. What happened here was that the camera was exposed while making a small upward motion, and settled on the building. I am talking fractions of a second so "settled" is relative, but when the motion stopped the darker elements (the building) were exposed enough to become visible.

I think the earth moved under his feet. Should we have a poll?

My faher-in-law passed away suddenly 15 years ago, before I met my wife.

But, he loved Christmas and family legend has it that he always sends a reminder around Christmas... usually in the form of some sort of sound. My mother-in-law tells stories of long dead radios in the bottom of a closet suddenly turning on and making noise... stuff like that.

I kind of dismissed these stories -- until it was my son's first Christmas in 2008.

One night just before Christmas we put our son to bed and wound up the mobile above his bed as we always did. The mobile never played for more than a minute or so before puttering out. It didn't last long at all.

An hour later, as my wife and I were in the family room watching TV, we suddenly heard music coming from my son's room. My wife and I both looked at each other and went into his room. The first thing I thought was, "How could my son have wound that thing up?... it's way over his head."

We found our son fast asleep and the mobile was going strong and playing loudly. It went for a full 3 minutes before stopping. Much longer than it ever went before or since.

My wife teared up and said, "Hi Dad... Merry Christmas."

She took great comfort in thinking her dad was watching over his grandson. I have to admit, the episode still sends chills up my spine.

When I was in high school my summer job was to help in patients at a hospital from there room to there Doctor appointments, or therapy appointments. I would get a room number and patient name, and go pick them up with a wheel chair and take them to a different floor or across the skywalk to the Doctors office building.

One day I was walking down the hallway going to a patients room. When I passed a different patients room I felt a rush of something, I got goosebumps and felt a cool tingling feeling. When I got down the hallway I looked back and the nurses were running into that room I passed by. The patient passed away as I walked by. I firmly believe the spirit was leaving the room and went through me at the exact time I was walking by. What else could this rush of been (shrug)

Charleston is a great town (I'm from the area, so I am biased)! My wife and I did one of the Ghost Tours and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not spooky, but a great way to tell and learn history of the Holy City. To this day, my wife swears that she felt a tug on her pony tail while we were on the tour and had stopped outside one of the cemetaries for a story. No one behind her and I didn't do it, so.... hm
