What is that funky white jizz hm on the back of the Superman #1? Scanner artifact or flaw on the back of the slab?

had to ebay questions about it to...here is my response I added to the auction:

 

Have had a few emails about the white smudging on the back cover near the middle/upper spine...it is on the case and not the book. You can see the Heritage auction # if you wish to view the heritage scans that don't show the case smudge. Sorry I didn't catch before I uploaded the pictures.
