Pedigree Comics' Grand Auction Ends Beginning Monday Evening!

3 posts in this topic

Greetings from Pedigree Comics’ Grand Auctions. Please allow this thread to serve as a reminder that our current Grand Auction ends beginning this evening, Monday, November 22nd, starting at 4:58 p.m. EST with the first half of lots (Action Comics #93 9.0 through Flintstones #52 9.6) and closes on Tuesday, November 23rd, at 4:58 p.m. EST with the remaining lots (Flintstones #55 9.6 through X-Men #124 9.8). The auction began the night of Monday, November 15th with over 800 great books to choose from in the separate, Grand Auction section of our Web site (www.PedigreeComics.com). Every comic in the auction is CGC graded and there is no Buyers Premium. The minimum bid is $100.00 and almost every book listed in the auction has no reserve.

This Grand Auction is not only one of our best to date, in terms of the amount of fabulous, ultra high grade material, but it stands as one of the best online auction events ever for quality CGC graded Silver and Bronze Age Marvels and DC’s, plus some choice Golden Age DC’s and Fawcetts. There is literally something for every high grade collector and/or investor out there, with sought after comic books ranging in value from $100 to $100,000. We have some incredible runs of high grade books from many significant 1960’s titles, highlighted by the world’s very best and #1 CGC Registry Set of Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos #1-#90, and a very nice group (over 75 books) of investment quality, early Silver Age Marvels and DC’s from the incredible original owner Bogota Collection that was consigned to us this past summer and which debuted in our last auction .

We have some fabulous keys and first appearance issues, including a beautiful 9.6 copy of Daredevil #1, the second highest graded example behind only one recently certified 9.8. It is one of only 6 in 9.6 out of over 1,570 so far submitted to the CGC. Featuring the first appearance and origin of Daredevil, the book is characterized by off-white to white pages and perfect centering. It is only the second NM+ example to be offered publicly for sale, the first one having sold for a record $62,000 in our January Grand Auction. Another great Silver Age Marvel (published one month prior to Daredevil #1) being offered is the world’s best and single highest graded CGC Signature Series copy of Avengers #4, a strict 9.2 (NM-) with off-white pages. One of the most popular early 1960’s comic books and the second most valuable issue of the Avengers (behind only Avengers #1), the book features the first Silver Age appearance of Captain America.

Other new Silver Age Marvel keys include a beautiful 9.0 copy of X-Men #1 featuring the origin and first appearance of the X-Men and the best existing example of Fantastic Four #48, a ridiculous NM/M 9.8 with white pages. Famous for containing the first appearance of both the Silver Surfer and Galactus, this hugely popular book has not been offered for sale in 9.8 in almost four years, since January, 2007. Speaking of the Silver Surfer, he is represented quite well in the auction with Silver Surfer #1 in 9.6 with white pages, the third best known copy, and a gorgeous and second highest graded example of Silver Surfer #4 (Silver Surfer battles Thor) in 9.6 with white pages. If you like Thor, then you might be interested in the second best existing copy of Thor #126 (first issue of the title), a stellar 9.6 with white pages, one of only four in 9.6 behind only one in 9.8.

We have added well over 100 brand new just graded books in the past week since our initial Grand Auction Newsletter from two weeks ago, most from the incredible group of almost 100 books we had purchased in last month’s New York Comic Con. Almost every comic from the group received a 9.4 or higher grade from the CGC, including a whopping 20 in 9.8 (NM/M).
