The sellers state:

WE'VE ALSO HAD A LOT OF QUESTIONS REGARDING THE HISTORY, SO WE'VE POSTED A GOOD EXPLANATION THAT WAS SENT TO ONE OF THE BIDDERS OF HOW THIS BOOK HAS REMAINED SO WHITE AND BEAUTIFUL ALL THESE YEARS:

We've had the book since the 1980's. CGC never existed back then and when CGC was new, we would have to ship the book out of the Country, pay the costs and what we're told, pay the Customs charges incurred by CGC for receiving it, also pay the CGC fees, then pay for shipping it back, plus the Customs charges of the valued amount and shipping plus the Duty to bring it back to Canada as well as taking a chance on it getting damaged, all for what? For a comic that we never planned on selling anyway? It just didn't make sense.

The reason the book looks so white and so beautiful is for a few reasons. The first being that it was not restored by a comic restoration company, they didn't even exist back then. We bought the book at a comic convention from a dealer that came to Canada from the US that had just obtained it from the original owners. They had sent it to an old man that did map restoration and he apparently had incredible talent and was able to mend the tears without the use of any restoration tapes. The results were incredible and we took the book, using 2 acid free thick backing boards and a thick mylar bag and folded it and taped it with 2 inch packing tape (you can see this on our other auctions as some books we're selling were never opened. This sealed the book from all oxygen and we kept it in our vault away from heat, light and air for the next 24 years.

The book looks exactly the same as it did 24 years ago... so I guess our original idea worked out pretty good. The book is so white and photographs so well, it's just a treasure to behold.

There are absolutely no pages in this book that are "reproduction pages".

The photos of the book depicted shall be the description and the winning bidder shall be responsible for the book once it has been delivered, making no claims to being "not as described" unless we are advised to ship it directly to CGC (third party), first, for inspection. This is to circumvent people from replacing the cover or pages and making a false claim.

This book is lovely and the buyer will be very happy...

"MANY PEOPLE HAVE ASKED ABOUT PAYING WITH PAYPAL... WE FIGURED THAT DUE TO THE DENOMINATION OF THE BOOK, IT WAS MORE LIKE SELLING A CAR ON EBAY WHERE BANK TRANSFERS ARE NORMAL... BUT WE'VE DECIDED THAT THE WINNING BIDDER CAN USE PAYPAL IF THEY WISH TO..."

They're dreaming.

I'd like to see them try and stop anyone so inclined from filing a SNAD, sans the CGC route, and not having Paypal back them.

They're just completely dreaming if they think they can get away with those terms.

Let's see...

- Seller has lousy feedback

- Book is not assigned a numerical grade

- High ticket book that, nevertheless, hasn't been sent for third party grading

- Right edge looks trimmed

- Cover may be a reproduction

- Payment option offers no protection

Helluva deal. Did I miss anything?

Sent to the seller:

"The very best possible thing you could do would be to send it to CGC yourself. If you really want to get the most money for your return, you need to reassure buyers that what you've got is the real deal. We're discussing it on the CGC message boards, at cgccomics.com, if you'd like to see what we're discussing. Look in the Silver Age section.

If it costs too much money to send it to and from Canada yourself, I can put you in touch with several Canadian dealers who submit regularly and who would be MORE than happy to help you with your submission, including maybe sending it to someone in the US first (that you trust.)

It can only help. The money you spend on grading would be more than offset by the additional amount you'd get back. If this is an apparent 8.0-9.0, you could easily be looking at a legitimate $5,000-$10,000 book.

Good luck."

Thanks. The current bid is already way too high. Its almost reaching the price of a good+ AF 15 copy. Im no expert by any definition but isn't it obvious that its a repro cover. Got to put it down to a "good" sales pitch combined with ladles of bidding hysteria.

if something is too good to be true, it is

throw in any cliches you want and the human kind, no matter what advancement, is pretty much still the same...naive, gullible, and wishful thinking.
