Duffman_Comics
Lovely book Andrew, and as I have said before, a great "theme" to collect. Any idea how many more are out there that you need?
AJD
I've limited my list to books with a war bond/stamp in the cover art or a buy war bonds message worked into the art work (WDC&S 30, 31, Famous Funnies 131, Our Gang 17 are examples of those). I keep my eye out for them but I wouldn't claim to know them all - this thread has shown me a few I didn't know about. My list has 50ish books on it and I have about half. (The cheap half for the most part...) I have a couple more on their way at the moment - Captain Midnight 22 and a Blue Bolt.
AJD
Two new additions. One of four (I think) Fawcetts I didn't have. (Anyone have a Don Winslow 17 or funny Animals 6, 20 for sale?) And this one's a beauty:

AJD
I am unreasonably pleased with this new addition to my collection. I had it shipped to work and when I showed my coworkers there was a collective 'that's so cool'! I thought that was the appropriate response. Well, I suppose that's what the fellow inmates would say within earshot. It's what gets whispered amongst them in the exercise yard, absent you, that is usually the candid assessment of your hobby. Very nice book, Andrew. I'll take PLOD 4.0's like this one all day long.

Here is an example of a comic where war loans were still being milked after the war was over!

generic user
I was going through my "non-fiction" comics last night and ran across this one. Lots of Trues had cover blurbs about war bonds, but #37 is the only one I saw with a picture of one on it.

AJD
How cool is this one? Based, of course, on the famous Rosenthal Iwo Jima photo. If you check out the link, make sure you have a look at the newsreel footage of the flag raising. I hadn't seen it before, but it makes the scene look a whole lot less dramatic than the photo. Duffman_Comics
Great book, and an illustration of how quickly that photo passed into the "iconic" realm. I really like the composition too - the lack of background really enhances the power of the image. Terrific acquisition.
kelholt
Even though it is very small, I guess this one counts since it is on the cover. It is along the bottom in a yellow box.
