Registry Additions - Summer 2011

153 posts in this topic

  • Administrator

This is the thread to request full set additions to the CGC Registry. (Requests for expansions can be made in the thread dedicated to those requests) There must be more than one book in the set or graded by CGC to create a set. You can add your request to this thread, just please only request a title once and check to make sure that the set does not already exist on the registry.

Below is the list of sets currently up for addition based upon previous requests.

As before, each set will be marked as DONE when they are finished. (or if I have any notes or questions, that will be noted instead).

Once I have completed this list I will create a new list of the requests that are featured in this thread, so please try to only request a title once (it helps to skim through and make sure another user hasn’t requested it already, too), thanks!

I will finish what I can as we approach the Registry deadline, but will stop in time for everyone to have a chance to manage their comics before that date. I will post here when I am stopping for the awards.

It is all of the major sets for now, I have noted your requests for the mixed sets and am waiting for a new update on the custom sets ( lol ) to see if I should add them or not. More than likely they will be added once these are done as I don't expect the custom sets will be coming up soon (based upon history...) but I have to ask

If that's the case, I'll add your foreign ASM set at the same time (noting the list now).

Also, I was referring to smaller sets like the Best Radioactive Man Event set that was a crossover. Does this count as a mixed set that should be in the custom sets?

Thanks for your help!

Well, I can either make a separate set and include all the UK and Canadian editions as well, or I can add these into the ASM Complete set under the existing issues that they are reprinting.

Whichever is the community's preference...

I personally don't mind either idea. However, I know that 98% of the members of this board don't care much for collecting foreign editions, so I don't know if adding them into the Complete with Variants set would be a good idea. I personally don't see why it would hurt to use a list such as the one I am continuously adding to to make a separate set. In the list, I am including only certain "key" (I realize key is a matter of opinion) issues of ASM with all their foreign reprints so it's not entirely random. And if you don't like the set, it's not like you have to compete in it if you don't want to. I must stress that the list isn't complete, so maybe I should take it down for now and repost it once I have the full list. However, I don't want to take the time to make a list if nothing will be done with it.

I'll leave it up to Gemma. Would you like me to create a full list that you can trim down/add on to so a new set with only foreign reprints/price variants included?

I don't see much problem with a 'foreign edition' ASM set. Whether it has all foreign books or just the ones graded so far doesn't make much difference to me. I know the Avengers Mini-series and one shots set gets new things added to it frequently as new series are graded or older series are identified.

I'd really like the current ASM with variants set be left alone, though, because it's already more than 800 books long and adding multiple language variants for each issues just makes it ridiculously large.

Just for reference, here is my proposed list of issues (and their reprints) to be included. This could be either an ASM Foreign set with only AF 15 and the ASM issues included, or it could be just a Spider-Man set with all these keys.

Amazing Fantasy #15

ASM 1, 121, 122, 129, 194, 238, 239, 252, 289, 298, 299, 300, 344, 345, 361

Marvel Team-Up #141

Secret Wars #8

Spectacular Spider-Man #64

Spider-Man #1

Web of Spider-Man #1

Wolverine vs. Spider-Man #1

Agreed! However, since there are many, many, MANY foreign reprints out there, I do suggest that only certain key books (I provided a list, but some issues could be added or removed as per community discussions) be included and the ASM set be left undisturbed, except for the UK and Canadian editions removed.

+1, I agree. Asking for a set of specific esoteric issues that only the requestor

has a graded copy of is crazy. The Registry is suppossed to be competitive fun.

Competition being the key word here.

Like I explained, these issues aren't random. These are specific popular key issues that I have made a pre-determined list of (not yet complete). And for the record, I don't own a single graded foreign book on this list or on the list I plan to complete. While we are very few, I'm not the only one who collects these comics and I'm positive there is at least one more Registry user out there who would appreciate this set. There are many sets out there that only have one competitive set to their name, this doesn't mean it was crazy to request them. With help from Gemma and the community who would like to contribute, I believe we can come to an agreement on a list that satisfies everyone who would actually use this set. In my eyes, as long as the set satisfies the Registry's requirements, I don't see why the set shouldn't exist. And if it does come to be, no one is forcing anyone to use it. Like I said, sometimes there is only one competitive set per "set", and that is usually the user who requested it. This isn't very different from a crossover set in my eyes.

Though I do see your points, and I respect them fully. I just think we can create the set to satisfy both the Registry requirements and the expectations of the members that will use it.

Hi Gemma I was hoping to get the Green Arrow & Black Canary Set added.

This is the December 2007 to April 2010 which includes 29 issues in the main set (Plus variant covers on issues 1,2,3,5).

I would be more than happy to include list issues/dates/titles etc to ensure this is added.

I know there are several of these issues cgc graded.

Thanks Gemma.

I agree on the Ultimate Spider-Man #1, that was on my list but I forgot to include it.

hm, Interesting, why do you think those other two should be included? I can't find anything that would really make them key issues.
