sorry I missed out on the fun. Part of the reason I posted the Wrightson pics is because I knew I was going to miss an opportunity to meet him in person this weekend at the Greensboro NC con.

I noticed the BW sketch for donut. Very cool!

Bernie had a bunch of sketches, trading card paintings, and original comic book art for sale at the show, including a couple of the pieces Sterling posted above. Several of them are pictured for sale at his new website:

Very nice guy...I was one of the first people in line to get his sig (and hoping for a sketch, but alas he wasn't doing them) and the guy in front of me had a long box full of comics, trades, several Stephen King, books etc.,. and BW politely and pleasantly plodded through the whole lot of 'em.

I was talking to his wife and she said she was surprised at the number of kids there. I told her it was real nice to see them, but lamented that that it didn't seem there were as many comics available today geared at kids "...like when I was young..." with one-shot/complete stories and content geared at the elementary/middle school crowd. I then looked down at one of Bernie's half-naked zombie woman sketches and said something like "Of course, Bernie doesn't really do those kinds of books either...(fumble for words)..." She just laughed! 27_laughing.gif

What grade is your WH 20 Oakland? I bought my Oakland copy way back in 1998 or 1999, and I think it's NM or better (haven't pullled it out in a while). Also, WH 20 was sold in sealed packs so it's relatively common in high grade.

Picked up my books at CGC today and it was a 9.4 OW/W as Metro advertised.

...anyone notice that a 9.0 copy went for an astounding $263? Just twelve months ago that was just a $100 book...

And, crazy bidder that I am, I finished a mere third in the bidding. foreheadslap.gif Years ago I was second highest bidder on the 9.4 and got outbid by Joe Serpico at $700something. I would add that these Don Rosas are really nice books for the grade based on what I've seen (gloss, color, etc). People have figured it out and are bidding accordingly. I'm willing to bet another 9.0 wouldn't do that well, but then again, there seem to be a lot more people collecting bronze horror lately.
