The "Official Proof you were a Comic Fan Prior to 1979" thread!

I was just going through some old stuff and found this sheet of copper that I hammered the cover of Superman #6 into around 1974 when I was 9 (my earliest recollection of "geeking out".) I decided to tack it up on my wall. I remember how hard it was to tap "Very Truly Yours, Clark Kent" in cursive writing into copper with limited tools from my dads tool chest. Unfortunately, this was not from a copy that I owned!

I thought - there must be tons of this stuff out there! Anyone??

I thought I would try to drag out the older collectors on the boards and thought it would be interesting to post any items you might have personally created/written your name on or received in the mail having to do with comic book collecting

I can prove it, I remember the bicentennial and cb radios!

My CB radio handle was "Silver Surfer!"

As was mine. the CB was in the 1977 Silver Vega wagon (wood side too) that I took my drivers test on.

Other fond memories:

No backing boards

Robert Bell Bags with the printing on them

EC's for $10 each

Spinner racks (better get to the drug store the day they arrive)

Atlas Comics

Treasury Editions

My dad driving me to comic shows

Not having the $25 it took to buy an X-Men #1

4 or 5 books for a buck !!

I could go on.....
