OT - Is this forum more negative than others

I check out plenty of message boards, and there are always plenty of insufficiently_thoughtful_persons, just flaming for fun.. but this one seems much more negative than most of the others.. Does anyone else notice this? Maybe it's just that this is a smaller forum, and the regular folks stick to lurking because of all the flamers, but I thought it was pretty interesting how the most popular threads on here must contain whining, complaining, venting, or anger...

You mean the alternative being we are semi-employed housebound momma's boys, with severely low self-esteem, who in between downloading porn and building homemade explosive devices, simultaneously tuned to the Sci-Fi channel watching reruns of Stargate, feel the need to jump on here and bay at the electronic moon, while our genitals shrink from overexposure to magnetic fields?......

Or just comic related forums?

 

 

Since this forum revolves around comics, mainly buying, and or selling them in one form or another.

This means money is involved, to a large$$$ degree in some cases.

And where money is involved, usually idle forum banter gets ratcheted up a notch or two......... yes all the way to 11 sometimes.

 

Sure we have Ego's aplenty, but I would like to think we all have a good time here.

At least I do.

And to a casual observer who has no history of past threads ..or personalities , this forum might look like a place where loonies hang out...

And they might just be right... insane.gif

 

But let an outsider try and pik on one uf us!, and I bet you would see a comraderie normally kept under wraps here.

I have been trying to be very low-key the last few days due to the Wizard First deal that I don't know the complete story(yet) and have been mainly lurking.

 

But I will state in brief that there are basically 2 camps here on this Forum( Comics side only):

 

1) Those who buy/sell/trade/deal with CGC and understand and accept the CGC premise;

 

 

2) Those who are adamantly against CGC and everything they represent. They bash, ridicule, and scrutinize every move CGC makes, whine about CGC not publishing grading standards, and anything that they can sink their pit bull teeth into. They are the "save-the-whales-hug-a-tree-read-and-free-the-comics" mentality.

 

The anti-CGCers have their agenda. They don't care that the Pro-CGCers are not some 12-year-old pimply-faced kids that is going to lose $5.00 he saved cutting the lawn; the anti-CGCers think that CGC( and any other grading service) is somehow going to harm the Comics Hobby. I would say with confidence here that almost anyone here that partakes in the Comics Hobby can take care of themselves and finances are not a problem. I am saying with the same confidence that the Wizard First deal and anything like that is NOT going to hurt the Comics Hobby, but the anti-CGCers are not going to listen to me. I once posted this on the eBay Comics Board( very much anti-CGC and will let you know it): If that day arrives and the CGC comics are worthless - so be it. That in itself would not alter my life not one bit. There was a strange "silence" or ignoring me on that Board after that post. Sure, a few of them saved my other words for other times, but never mentioned that anywhere that I have seen.

 

I personally think that the anti-CGCers don't have any place here on this Forum. This is not the eBay Comics Board, where eBay owns the Board and all Registered Users are 'invited" to participate to chat with other Community Members; this Forum is specifically designed for the Collectibles Companies( NGS, CGC, etc) and ultimately further promote their products and services. To allow anti-CGCers to continue to throw rocks and other negativity they bring practically by default should not be allowed. If you don't like a product or service from a company, fine. leave those who DO partake inthe product and services alone. We are big boys and girls and did not ask nor need assistance from those who THINK we do. That in itself is arrogantly partonizing and insulting and fuels the "fighting back", at least on my part.

What the hell are you talkin' about!!! I try never to be negative...so eat me insufficiently_thoughtful_person....it's just that life sucks and so does CGC and all their mindless minions... sumo.gif

Well that's a frikkin' load and a half.
