Top sticker peeling off slabs (chronic problem?)

31 posts in this topic

Just wondering how prevalent this is. I just got a book I won off Heritage and it's missing the top label that's used as the seal for the edge of the slab. Old residue indicates that at one time, a label was indeed there. It's an old label book and from the look of it, it's seen some handling over the years. I was a little concerned at first, but now I don't think it's been opened and resealed as the book looks appropriate for the assigned grade. I just wish Heritage mentioned this in their description.

Anyway, I've got two other old labels that I bought previously where the top sticker is starting to peel off as well. Is this a common issue with the old labels or is it just age catching up to the glue? I suppose I could just send a complaint to Heritage, but it's a low cost book and it's probably not worth the effort of returning. Am I just being anal about this?

 I think someone slipped an 8.5 in there.

I would definitely complain to CGC mgmt. I mean how many years have they had to get this right?

wasn't borock hired by Heritage specifically to check this problem before it resulted in lawsuits?
That's what I read in OCD Fanboy Weekly, but they've had some problem with turnover.

Dammit! Just when I was willing to get passed this, I get this old label from Pedigree today. rolleyes.gif

If you wipe a booger on the bottom of the label it will stick back down to the case.

Easy peasy.

A while ago I submitted a question to the 'Ask CGC' forum asking if they could supply replacement top labels since I've got a couple of dozen that are missing them.

I never got a response so I guess the answer was 'no.'

Thanks, I'll try it. It'll probably work better than the crappy adhesive used on this labels.

Take a good look at what it's trying to stick to. I'm surprised they hang on as well as they do.

Will it still work if the booger is caught in nose hairs and somewhat hard and dry?

You need one of the kind that are found in the frontal part of the nostril. They are a little bit drier than the ones from the depths, but they still have a good bit of tack left in them.

I'd try to shave any hair off them as you might be called on it if you ever sold the slab to some picky comic dork.

Nose hairs are nothing. I found a thread here once about a pubic hair in the slab.

Was it a Vampirella comic?
