Enormous is still cooking. I read it again last night and still can't get over the art. How long do you think it takes to produce a book of this quality ?

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=spread+%231&LH_Sold=1&_osacat=63&_from=R40&LH_Complete=1&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1311.R1.TR6.TRC0.A0.H0.Xenormous&_nkw=enormous&_sacat=63

I'm not sure whether this book is digitally painted like Clayton Crain's work on Rai, but after the currently monthly arc wraps up on that book, there's going to be a 3-month hiatus before it returns in December. So (for that book) I'm guessing close to two months for the art on a complete normal-sized issue. Seems comparable here, although Enormous was an extra-sized issue. Are these puns already old?

Fun to read lol

so how are they going to bring black nick fury into continuity? i know he's in the ultimate universe, but eventually they're going to merge everything to sell some books...nick fury's younger (half) brother? nick fury's love child with gabriel jones's sister? so many possibilities.

my son is very confused between the comics and csrtoons/movies/tv. it's not like green lantern where john stewart is an actual different person and kingpin in the movies, who should have been black to start with in the comics.

He's nick furys son.

And he gets darker in battle scars from 1 to 6

I thought he was born from a love child between Nick and an African American, thus his darker complexion?

He was born from the desire of Marketing to have the Nick Fury in the main Marvel Comics Universe to look like the guy that portrays him in the movie. And they even put out his eye, like his dad, like there's a genetic disposition to losing an eye or something. It's ridiculous. That's all one needs to know. The end.

but the black nick fury in the avengers cartoon is the son of a black nick fury from WW II. all very confusing.

I disagree but I also understand the difference of opinion on this.

OK, let me rephrase that. Public opinion does not see the 1st Clark Kent as the 1st Superman, as an example.

My point was if Superman is wearing his outfit and saving something/somebody, if someone calls him Clark, he is still Superman.

Put another way, when I'm visiting family in Kentucky, they call me TJ, Tommy Joe, or Teej. When I'm in Indiana, plain old Tom and people who don't know me call me Mr and you guys call me the Authority lol . Different clothes, different environment, same old me.

ok, lets say in one b&w comic magazine from 1977 or so a wise-cracking racoonish character toting a huge gun appears and refers to himself as "rocky" and then like 5 years later in a color comic book a strikingly similar character named "rocket racoon" appears....

with that said, my almost 9 year old son REALLY wants me to take him to guardians of the galaxy.....

:roflmao:

My whole family and some of the guys from work want to see it too. I think we're all going first night. The youngest person is 11 and the oldest is 54. I think the tag " all ages " applies to this one.

my wife is absolutely disgusted that a racoon with a huge gun is so fascinating to comic dweebs (and junior comic dweebs)....

funny how they got into a stare down with one yesterday evening in the backyard...i asked my son if the racoon was toting a blaster and he was all "he wasn't rocket...."

apparently he knows this stuff because it's being pushed in his lego jr. magazine too

I have never made a dime of of Superman Adventures 4 and there is no image of Harley prior to BA12 ( unless you count her appearance in a certain children's book )

There is an image of Harley in Batman Chronicles Gallery 1 that pre-dates her first in-DC-continuity appearance in the Batman: Harley Quinn book with the Ross cover though.

Very cool, I love stuff like this.

Never noticed .... :baiting:

Mr Ween is the 1st appearance KING !

I prefer evil warlord :D

What do you reckon on this one for a 1st appearance.

TBH like the rest of this sellers unethical 5 x cover price pre-order sales, this is just sad doh!

1st app of Rocket Racoons name

Beats the Ross cover book by about 2 years. Just an art/pinup book, and obviously doesn't tell her origin.

But it's a pin-up? It isn't in continuity or out of continuity and is after BA 12 anyway, right? It's cool, I'll give you that. Cable's face appears in the "next month" section of New Mutants 86...

Of course, I should look to see if I own this before I badmouth it (like when I bad mouthed GOTG 1 (2008) only to realize I owned a copy...), but as a pin-up book it's exactly the type of thing I would stupidly pass over

Yeah its just an art book, no dialogue or story.

I thought this was a given for at least one movie, hence the semi-recent wave of interest in MOS 18? (Gosh, I miss plucking MOS 18s and X-Factor 6ses out of $1 and $2 boxes...)

Why is there a debate over the #1 and #6 issues in relation to Coulson ( I know few care lol ) ? He appears in the first issue as cheese. If Superman showed up in a book and people called him Clark for 5 issues, would the first 1 not be his first appearance ? For the record I have 1 of each of his possible 1st appearances including the cartoon book.

1st Clark Kent yes, 1st Superman, no. There are plenty instances of this. This circumstance isn't so cut and dry because Coulson is a regular human and doesn't have a costume.

This is all just conversation. At this point the market has decided #6 is the one that demands money.

Well you know how I feel about the market determining facts about comics. In this case the market only reflects the lack of knowledge concerning these two characters first appearances. I hate to use Harley Quinn as the prime example but if her face appeared in a secret file at the end of BA 11 the market would change over night and we wouldn't be talking cameo either, it would be a first appearance conversation. The only difference here is that Nick Fury Jr isn't a beloved character.

Coulson on the other hand had a few appearances prior to Battle Scars, this being his first. There really is no disputing this no matter what Battle Scars 6 sells for.

Perception is the only thing that matters. I mean, take Domino. Her first actual appearance is in X-Force #8. No one seems to care that before that, she was being impersonated by a shapeshifter. No, it's the first appearance of the shapeshifter in New Mutants #98 that everyone wants to own.

I thought it was because of Gideon? He does have a wicked haircut.
