Maybe it's just me but is it possible that the bidder thought the #1 2nd print was actually thought bubble variant? That's the only explanation I can think of for someone to pay that much. There are current BIN that are much less than $130.

Smart theory. hm You may well be right.

 

The auction even refers to it as a Nowhere Men #1 "Variant" rather than a 2nd print... there's a grain of truth there I guess, but it does seem like in this context that that wording could lead someone down the wrong path.

 

 

Let's just say it won't be the first time someone bought the 2nd print as the Thought Bubble Variant based on eBay auctions when #1 2nd came out.........

 

That being said, the three LCS owners I talked to last week said NWM was being added to a lot of files over the past week. In two of the stores they increased orders of #3 substantially and sold out before noon on the day of release (10:00 am openings). The other store is small and only orders 10 copies of each Image title, except for Walking Dead as he has a lot of files with it, and while there are Sagas and other titles on the shelf his NWM #3s were gone before I got there (he set one aside for me thankfully). It is a good read so far, and if they can keep up the momentum the prices could get even sillier. :wishluck:

My main LCS told me that many people have been adding NWM to lists or email requests after issue #3 - before that he had very few and they would only put 1-2 copies on the shelf.

 

Ive had 10 copies on my pull but Im thinking that ill drop it down a little after #5. 2-3 had 9k print runs from what I remember but I wonder what thatll look like for upcoming issues

I know how you feel Andy, I saw your comments! :) But the I see it is that I got a really good deal, plus almost all of the other ones where ASM. A good friend of mine wants the NWM really bad and I don't really care for them, so I might trade them. I also got a Bedlam #2, Todd the Ugliest kid on Earth #1, and another one I have heard of.

Sorry, I am keeping that one! I have several other Defenders #1's and I am hoping that I can get a higher grade from one of those. I also have a beautiful Defenders #10 except for 1 thing and that's the miswrap.

I got in 50.

43 are not fit for man or beast, but quite fine for readers.

 

Black cover:

spine ticks

consistent grabber marks

creases

paper flaws.

 

They look like mess.

 

I "do" have them out at cover for walk in customers, 1 per...
