A more interesting question for me (and one that's completely unanswerable) would be how many comics have been printed versus how many still exist.

Every comic book that has ever been produced, stills exists. Many have just changed their form Nothing ever ceases to exist.

How about a quarter million copies times 250 per month times 12 months times 73 years. Mmmmm.... that's about 50 billion. And lets assume that 3/4 have been destroyed. That takes us down to about 10 billion, or 30 for every man, woman and child in the United States. That, of course, doesn't include the industries in Romania, Botswana, Gondwanaland or Uruguay. That would jack it way up.
