Dead serious. I still have the money order receipt with Ryans' name on it. So Ryan ELLIOTT is TDcomix and Donovan ELLIOTT is CGG's restoration "expert" 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

So who the hell is Gregg Elliottt?????

There are numerous Don Elliots in Oregon as well (although none are listed at Donovan Elliot). Note the difference in the spelling of their last name.

CGG probably made a spelling error when they omitted the second "t" in Donovan Elliot's last name. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

As for the high grade books with file copy stamp, that is still a mystery to

me. The best explanation I can give is that someone gave them to Barks

late in his life and he used his stamp on them? If anyone knows the story

behind them, I would very much like to hear it.

There are five or six different sellers in Oregon who have large quantities of Barks file copies... Late in his life, Carl Barks gave them away to most anyone who was nice to him. I know of a handful of real scumbag dealers who have several each.

There are two dealers that I know of (who are not scumbags) who wound up with dozens and dozens of them. It's hard to walk around the Portland show without tripping over his file copies.

I can just picture a bunch of random people near Ditko's home town winding up with all his stuff once his faculties are gone... sad... but true...

This is all great and very heavy (in terms of connections, allegations etc). Even if it is all true, have any laws have been broken? It just means that CGG as a company will be in jeapordy---a company like this that loses credibility might as well shut down IMO.

I'll just sit here and eat the popcorn and what it all unfold. I have no thoughts or opinions otherwise, other than to say my gut instincts have served me well.

Lighthouse, thanks for the info.

My uneasiness about the file copies comes from a high grade file copy of

Four Color 189 that was listed on eBay in 2001. There is a well known

book about Barks by Michael Barrier (published in 1981) that shows Barks

holding his personal copy of FC 189. It is beat up with folds and tape and

has a clear file copy stamp on the front cover. The book listed on eBay was

clearly different - it was VF/NM or better and had a smeared stamp. I

consulted several people who had know Barks for many years and they

told me that Barks was by no means a comics collector; they could not

imagine him having multiple copies of his early books - especially not

high grade ones.

While I would gladly pay very well the low grade copy if it were ever to

surface, I feel uneasy that the high grade stamped copies started

appearing right around the time of the estate sale along with many of

his other personal belongings (pens, greeting cards, audio tapes, ...).

If the file copies did belong to Barks for most of his career they would

indeed be historical treasures and among the most desirable Disney

comics in existence. I just won't touch them myself before I learn

more about how their provenance.

By my estimation they have nothing to lose. You can't lose something you never had.

Those file copies were all faked.Sad but true.Ryan Elliott bought the stamp from Barks estate.Along with that uncle scrooge(?) tiny statue head. The stamp said something like this book was stolen from Carl Barks. So copies of disney stuff was bought off ebay and then the stamp was applied.Feel free to pm me if you have any questions.

This thread is 3 years old confused-smiley-013.gif

The only reason this thread (3 years old) would be bumped to the top is that the bumper searched for his own name. gossip.gif

(Otherwise, why bother responding three years later... unless it was personal?) poke2.gif

Don't jump down my throat guys, but what's up with the shadow? How did we deduce he's Elliott. It seems here that he's outing Elliott? What am I missing?
