Who said it first - or great sayings attributed to comic books

60 posts in this topic

I was always partial to that totally awesome panel in the Wolverine Limited Series where he's fighting The Hand and he says (if I recall correctly)

"They we're good...

..I'm the best."

Standing over a bunch of bodies. I like that better than his "I'm the best at what I do..." line.

He's wasn't talking grammar, obviously. :baiting:

Well, he was coming off a berserker rage.

Shirley, 'It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Superman' counts as a great and famous

saying.

It's not a saying, it's a catchphrase or tagline.

Whoa!!!

"So, they laugh at my boner, will they?! I'll show them! I'll show them how many BONERS the Joker can make!"

Linky. Its real.

:roflmao: all time classic!!!

"This emphasis on BONERS has given me an idea for a new adventure in crime! Gotham City will rue the day it mentioned the word BONER!"

:roflmao:

I'm also a fan of Stan's folksie 'face front true believer'.

From a movie this time, not the comic, but a classic line just the same;

"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the vimen."

lol

So in other words there are no great sayings attributed to comic books. :tonofbricks:

Wrong.

http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/cool-story-bro

I see. meh

In that case I suppose you could add the following.

"Snikt"

"Baaanff"

"Looks like we won".

"Say your prayers, hero!"

"Super-hero vs. Super-Villain! Only one shall survive!"

"Holy Moley"

"Sockamagee!"

"Fonebone"

"Potrezebie"

"Is that all you've got"?

"Up, up and away"

"Is it a bird etc."

"Trapped in world he never made"

"O Bitter Victory"

"The Dismal Dregs Of Defeat"

"Face it tiger, you just hit the jackpot"

"It's kicking in".

"I shall be a creature of the night, terrible, I shall be a bat". (probably borrowed from gothic lit).

Memes aren't great sayings, no matter how widespread their usage. :tonofbricks:

Although they are obviously memorable.

THWIP!!!
