TMNT 1-4

Finally got these CGC graded. Still in transit back, so I can't read grader's notes on them without serial numbers:

#1 7.5 White

#2 9.2 Offwhite to White

#3 9.4 White

#4 9.8 White

I'm kind of surprised #1 went so low. Had this not been a black comic, I suspect that those color breaks/stress lines on the binding would not have earned this low of a grade. No dents, no tears. They claim to not bias their grading on the age of the book, right (ie Copper or Moderns are held to no higher standard than Golden?)

Why complained? I have NONE of them because I sold them too early two years ago!

Think I inadvertently made a racial sounding comment. Why does the black comic get dinged worse on stress marks? Didn't mean to make it sound that way. And I'm not really complaining. I'm sure even with a 7.5 grade, I'll sell it for more than I would have ungraded. Just bummed that it graded as low as it did.

For #1 I paid for the Graders Notes.

Grader Notes: Back Cover Finger Bends

Front Cover Finger Bends

Spine Moderate Stress Lines Breaks Color

So assuming non color breaking "Finger Bends" were the big offenders on this book, pressing may raise it at least one grade or more, right?

This shop seems to claim to be able to correct them.

Can anyone show me scans of other comics where finger bends are a problem? Trying not to sound frantic. Just surprised about a thing I hope to understand, but don't yet.

Got the graders notes for my 9.2 TMNT#1

Grader Notes: Top Spine Multiple Bend Through Book

So, I guess I'm left wondering whether to get these pressed. I think this is how it may work out:

Press 7.5 TMNT #1 1st - to get rid of or minimize "Back Cover Finger Bends Front Cover Finger Bends" Now that the slab's in front of me , I can see the minimal dents and am still amazed that it knocked it down to a 7.5. That said, the "moderate stress lines break color" on black shown in my scans indicated between 8 and 8.5 to the two who tried to offer grades in the original post (thanks again, guys)

Price to do press and get it resubmitted $200 + shipping + CGC (($77-10%)+$5) + shipping. Since it's a $3000+ book shipping with insurance isn't cheap. So maybe $350?

Press 9.2 TMNT #2 1st - to get rid of or minimize "Top Spine Multiple Bend Through Book" As you can see from the scans in the first post, the book has no color breaks of any kind, so I'm guessing this is 9.6+ if it can be carefully pressed.

Price to do this and get it resubmitted $200 + shipping + CGC (($77-10%)+$5) + shipping. Total ~$350 or ~$270 if done with the other book.

Having a tough time gauging the value of the 7.5 #1 vs. 8.0 vs. 8.5

and

9.2 #2 vs. 9.6 or 9.8.

Comics price guide shows these pretty inflated values including some wonky pricing where 9.2 is worth more than 9.4.

Condition Raw Value Graded Value

10.0 (GEM MINT) $24,000.00 $96,000.00

9.9 (MINT) $16,000.00 $64,000.00

9.8 (NEAR MINT/MINT) $8,000.00 $32,000.00

9.6 (NEAR MINT+) $6,000.00 $24,000.00

9.4 (NEAR MINT) $4,000.00 $8,000.00

9.2 (NEAR MINT-) $3,200.00 $8,960.00

9.0 (VERY FINE/NEAR MINT) $2,800.00 $6,720.00

8.5 (VERY FINE+) $2,400.00 $4,800.00

8.0 (VERY FINE) $2,000.00 $4,000.00

7.5 (VERY FINE-) $1,600.00 $3,200.00

7.0 (FINE/VERY FINE) $1,200.00 $2,400.00

#2

Condition Raw Value Graded Value

10.0 (GEM MINT) $2,400.00 $9,600.00

9.9 (MINT) $1,600.00 $6,400.00

9.8 (NEAR MINT/MINT) $800.00 $3,200.00

9.6 (NEAR MINT+) $600.00 $2,400.00

9.4 (NEAR MINT) $400.00 $800.00

9.2 (NEAR MINT-) $320.00 $896.00

9.0 (VERY FINE/NEAR MINT) $280.00 $672.00

6.5 (FINE+) $800.00 $1,600.00

What's a better way to understand what these are selling for? Ebay selling history isn't much help at this point, though I have tried. Do you guys trade on these forums using some kind of escrow (Paypal?) and if so, is that a good place to study recent sales prices? Anyone have any advice about how to proceed? Apologies if pressing is taboo/offensive to some. Just trying to get the most for the books when I finally sell them after 29 years of holding them. Also is CGCAdvisor the good way to go for pressing at $200/bk walkthrough? I seem to remember folks on here recommending a board member Joey? but can't find his service/pricing for these books. Who have you guys used for pressing?
