Now we're talking, Marty. I really like the color preservation you have on your books.

There was a corner variety store that I would pass everyday going

to and from school that would display comic books in the window

hanging from a line with clothespins. I would look at them as I

went by, but never went in as the majority of books on display were

JUMBO COMICS or JUNGLE COMICS, etc. Since I was able to

read these books free at my barbershop (he always had a pile of them),

I never bought them...with the exception of JUMBO #79 and #121.

One day passing by I saw something different, it was a copy of

FUNNYMAN #1...from "... the creators of SUPERMAN...".

Not having the dime, I could only hope they didn't sell it before I could

get the money. Needless to say, the next afternoon it was mine!

A couple of months later I picked up issue #2 at the same store...

but that was the last I saw of FUNNYMAN.

That was the only cover I had seen until 10-15 years ago. Back in the sixties, when I checked old newspaper references for articles on comics, the Funnyman comic story was one of several. Siegel and Shuster changing loyalties was news at the time. However, the comic wasn't a success. I think I have a copy of issue 2. Gerber has photos of all 6 issues.

His bike must have been a modified Indian (since the suicide shifter was on the right).

That Atoman's cool--looks like he could be the direct inspiration for "Radioactive Man" from The Simpsons, and with Jerry Robinson art to boot!

Also _love_ the Terry Toons 38 and nominate it for grading. I have a copy that's in the 4.0-5.0 range that I'm planning to send in shortly.

And 'Tec 168's one of my favorite Batman stories--I read it in a reprint volume called Batman: From the 30s to the 70s, and I believe it influenced the current origin of the Joker that was presented about 20 years ago in "The Killing Joke."
