Happy to see that SCRIBBLY COMICS have been added to

the Registry, I have #'s 1, 2, 4, 6 & 8 which I will probably have

graded in the future. Always enjoyed Sheldon Mayer's work on

SCRIBBLY "King Of All Cartoonists" whose last name was JIBBET.

Scribbly is still missing from my collection. I'll have to fork out a few extra dollars to win one on ebay pretty soon or hope someone finds a moldy copy in their basement. Glad to hear that you were a fan too.

Scribbly is really good stuff. I'm holding out hope for a DC Archives volume one day. Until then, there's the Smithsonian Book of Comic Book Comics that reprints some Scribbly and the Red Tornado strips from All-American.

SCRIBBLY #8...November/December 1949 has a great half-page

ad for "The Adventures Of Ozzie & Harriet" #1..."America's Favorite

RADIO Family". I think it only ran for 5 issues and as far as I know

DC never picked up the title when they went to TV.

Four Color #157 "MICKEY MOUSE AND THE BEANSTALK" is one

of my favorites along with Four Color #116 "MICKEY MOUSE AND

THE HOUSE OF MANY MYSTERIES". I used to find most of my

Four Color Books at my local W.T. Grants store...didn't see too many

on the newsstands.

I never missed an Ozzie and Harriet show on TV. Mostly we watched to see Ricky and his brother. I have a few issues I think. At least one still has a cover but no picture.

Great looking MARVEL FAMILY #1...my copy is CGC Graded at 3.0.

Need to have #'s 4, 5 7 8 graded one of these days.

Unfortunately the Marvel Family 1 is incomplete but I have a decent copy of #2 which I picked up with a bunch of Feature Books and Our Gangs.

I like Barney Bear and the stories from Our Gang have not been reprinted as often as the Duck stories.

While going through my collection of damaged books I came

across two I forgot about...GRAND SLAM 3 ACES #45 & #50

from 1945 & 1946. They appear to have been printed in Canada

but they have a full page of items you can order from the CAPTAIN

MARVEL CLUB.

I also ran across a coverless ACTION #83...with the intro of Hocus &

Pocus. In the last panel of the story it stated "If you liked Hocus

& Pocus, and would like to see more of them, drop a postcard to-

Superman, 480 Lexington Ave., NYC."

I wonder how many cards they received?

The more I dig into my collection the more I find I had forgotten,

like a 1948 "50th Anniversary Issue of The CAPTAIN AND THE

KIDS" by Rudolph Dirks, that contains a two page history of the

comic strip and an account of the Supreme Court Decision.

Along with it I have a copy of FEATURE BOOK #41 "THE

KATZENJAMMER KIDS" with a photo & brief bio of Harold H.

Knerr.

The Scribbly and Red Tornado reprint from All-American 20-24 is probably the most entertaining GA story I've read, up there with the best of Barks, Stanley and Jack Cole. I'd love to see a Scribbly archive, just to see if Mayer kept up the quality.

As I am sending off two at a time, after STUNTMAN #1 & #2

I guess I'll send in the two Best Looking Books in my collection

for grading...SHOCK SUSPENSTORIES #6 and SPIRIT #22.

They should do between 6.0 & 7.0...but that's just a guess.

mm

Two great books to be the best in the collection. Especially the Spirit 22!!!!
