Bedlam

Finally read Bedlam and here is my well thought out review:

yawn

Agreed, as I said sliced bread is better!

Know why this won`t be big?

R rated movies are dead at the box office.

If Dredd and the latest Conan movie bombed what will this do?

The best it can hope for is if Showtime or HBO pick it up.

I just don`t see it.

Sorry just not my cup of tea or my sliced bread! :foryou:

Just because it's not made into a movie or TV show doesn't mean it won't be big. Am I in the minority to think that a comic will succeed just on good writing and good art? Not everyone is buying comics to "speculate" on whether it will be made into a movie or TV show!

Why does any book need to be huge. I brought the book, I read the book, I loved the book and I hope any like minded people will also read and love it. (shrug)

Whether its worth $1 or $1000 in a years time I couldn't care less. All I care about is Nick Spencer and Rily Rossmo keep up the good work.

If in a years time I am still reading and enjoying it then that's all that matters to me :cloud9:

Oh and I am not saying you can't like the book, I'm not a huge fan of Saga but I can see why people may like it and hope it keeps delivering from the. I sold my 1-6 set to a friend for near cover and even if it's huge I won't regret it. I'm just glad the books are in the hand of someone who actually does enjoy them. :cloud9:

Hate to say it friend.

It ALREADY has been big.

Not Walking Dead big.

Just best selling creator owned of the month in my shop BIG.

Trashing a series that is one issue old is moronic.

My opinion.

+1 ( - the insufficiently_thoughtful_person)

I know it's not everyone's slice of bread. I think the concept and art is cool. And from the sell out, others do as well. The main character reminds me of a Joker character. I think people will see this correlation as well and you know how much people dig the joker...

Joker and Madder Red. Twins, lost at birth

.

If Bedlam is cool for you than that`s your thing.

I just didn`t like it.

I don`t see how this comic will translate well into other forms of media like Walking Dead.

R rated stuff does not do well at the box office.

It`s proven.

Do you really see it being such a big thing a year from now?

I bet by February it`s slowed down, and there will be some other comic book that will be pimped.

Just my opinion handsome. ;)

I " AM" handsome as the day is long.

Just a fact.

I think Nick Spencer is producing something special here.

I work the register at a comic shop.

I see buying patterns & trends before most of you.

There are an OBNOXIOUS amount of young Joker fans in the market HUNGRY for this type of edgy material.

I haveput my money where my big fat mouth is.

Months ago. Before the book was released.

I'm buying thousands.

Based on what I perceive as a QUALITY product.

Like I said 6 weeks ago.

Let's see how Bedlam fares at issue #6

Who said anything about the Box Office? Aren't we getting a bit ahead of ourselves for a book that is only on issue 1?

As for adult material not being popular or "mainstream" enough to catch on...

You're right, Dexter is not popular. Walking Dead is not popular. True Blood is not popular. Game of Thrones is not popular.

I was hooked from the preview and loved issue #1. Looking forward to #2 and beyond. I'm liking the story so far (first words outta my brother's mouth and mine after reading the preview were ("Madder Red reminds me of Ledger's Joker"), and I like Rossmo's art, because I think it fits the book well.

As long as Spencer keeps the story fresh, intriguing and insane, I'm in for the long haul!

Oh and my favorite covers in no particular order: Larry's, Forbidden Planet and Detroit Fanfare.
