Ben Affleck is directing Argo (based on the CIA Jack Kirby fake film event )

I hadnt heard of a Kirby connection. Does he create storyboards?

Kirby and the CIA go back a long, long time. From publishing BEM storys in the Atlas days to Tony Stark in Vietnam to money laundering via Mark Jewelers inserts, the true extent of CIA involvement in the comics industry has yet to be fully vetted.

I wish Ben Affleck would stay away from comic book stuff.

This film will bomb.

I think people here will pay their hard earned cash just to get see how Jack Kirby was protrayed. Ridiculous.

This is not a comic movie

As the Iranian revolution reaches a boiling point, a CIA 'exfiltration' specialist concocts a risky plan to free six Americans who have found shelter at the home of the Canadian ambassador.

Wow, as I read this, I'm left to wonder if anyone here really knows anything about what happened.

If you want it all to be "new" when you see it, avoid reading more.

During the 1979 Iran hostage crisis, the governments of the United States and Canada partnered to rescue six U.S. foreign service members who had evaded the hostage-taking at the takeover of the American embassy in Iran by staying in the home of the Canadian Ambassador. The governments were able to convince Iran that the six hostages were members of a film crew who were scouting the area for a movie titled Argo. The CIA's fake production company used real designs by comics legend Jack Kirby and Barry Ira Geller's screenplay for the upcoming film Lord of Light. Armed with professional designs and screenplay, the hostages were successfully able to escape the country under their fake identities.

Wait, wasn't there another movie made with this same storyline?

I remember seeing it or hearing of it recently.

Ben is becoming a pretty good director. He's made some stunning movies.

As wierd as I feel saying this, I couldn't agree more. I'd also add that the more I watch Good Will Hunting the more I love it. Anyone involved in that movie has my trust, even if they were in Daredevil (Someone suggested that I should watch the Directors Cut, but man it was still awful. I've never had a movie take me 3 nights to watch that isn't Lord of the Rings Extended).

I don't know of one, but I'm out of touch with movies. I honestly thought Argo was in production whenI first read about it a week or two ago, not ready for release.

It was my mistake. I saw the trailer about the movie, which is where I heard about the idea.

Thanks to dupont2005 for the memory refresher!

(thumbs u

I saw the trailer for this in the theater when I saw that Tim Burton movie. It looks awesome.
