Question about Chew

Hello everybody! I have a general question about Chew that I would love some more info about. Apologies in advance if this question does not belong here!

 

I saw the other day that there were two Chew #1s that an associate of mine had. He couldn't explain the difference to me either, but one of them had a picture of a man sitting on at a table with a gun, and the other cover had a giant robotic chicken. What is the difference between the two of them? Is one a variant cover or a reprint? I would to know!

You think that's bad? The first piece I bought (to get me started on this comic craze) was an Alex Ross signed original painting, this past month.

 

I'm like a kid in a candy store, randomly grabbing handfuls of stuff (regardless of price). :)
