I think you'd really like "Astro City". Right up your alley, Wally. Start at the beginning.

I re-read the original silver age Marvel "ten" (and their spin-offs) over and over again.

ASM, FF, Avengers, ToS, JiM / Thor, TtA, X-Men, DD, ST, & Sgt. Fury.

Up to about 1971-'72. Maybe longer for some.

Oh, and throw in Silver Surfer, Captain Marvel, and Conan for good measure.

-stuck in the sixties and happy about it.

You hit a lot of my favs in your list, especially your choices at #1, #3, and #5. Also lotsa love for Aparo's Spectre run in Adventure Comics, Avengers issues from about 137-200, and the whole damned FF run from 1-250+. Early Iron Fist also bodes well for me too.

saga

You are not kidding! I just read the TPB for like the fifth time. That book is amazing! Anyone saying moderns have nothing to offer is smoking it backwards.

The other book I read over again is GSXM 1.

I'm serious when I say I haven't been this interested in a comic for about 15 years.

I read Chew #1 recently and found it interesting as well

I also love Saga, and have read some of the issues more than once. Also enjoying the Manhattan Projects by Hickman, as well as his recent Avengers/New Avengers books (which I would not have been eager to read if it weren't for Manhattan). He's a great writer. There's some good stuff out there nowadays.

Both ASM lists skipped 68-75, the Golden Tablet saga. Love that run.

And Jim Mooney embellishing Romita's art was awesome!

It was called the Petrified Tablet IIRC. I picked this up a few years back and read it for the first time since the early 70s as a 13 year old. Back then it had been my favorite ASM story arc. It was a mixed experience rereading it - on one hand it was a bit of nostalgia buzz and it had been so long it was like reading it for the first time, but by the time I got to the end I wasn't as impressed as I wanted be. Unfortunately this is an experience I have rereading most SA stuff - while it can be reasonably entertaining, it's just not as great as I remember.

I don't often re-read a comic but I've read the first three Elfquest series multiple times, the first half of the first TMNT series, most of the Fantagraphics Usagi Yojimbo run, Bone, a few Sin City volumes, some issues of Groo, King Smurf, Grips from Silverwolf, and I'm sure there's more. I was more likely to reread a series when I was a kid and didn't have a pile of unread comics.
