Just so you know.. This show is NOT the same show as the one last September in Las Vegas. This is a new show put on by the Jay Brothers who put on the Amazing Arizona Comic Con in January. The show from last September was put on by a different promoter and was called the Las Vegas Comic Expo and information about it is coming soon.

Desert Wind is correct. This Show will be put on by Jay Company brothers.

These are the guys who put together Amazing Arizona con the past three years and the Kick @$$ Image Expo 20yr Show. I trust these guys will bring a great show. I am looking forward to this one.

Hey guys-

I really appreciate Scott for posting this convention to the CGC Boards.

As several people have pointed out, the AMAZING LAS VEGAS COMIC CON is indeed a different show than the expo in the fall.

As Shadroch pointed out- I was brought in over the last 7-8 weeks before the September show. The crew i brought in helped facilitate many of the different areas of the show- from recruiting and placing exhibitors and artist ally, box office, guests, press lists, PR, copywriting, social media and more behind the scenes. I was proud of the work our crew put in, giving some form to the expo during that home stretch.

Las Vegas is a fantastic venue, with a great local comic scene-

strong stores, knowledgeable fans. I'm excited to add another strong event to the area, in the form of a full blown Comic Con.

With nearly 3 months going into the con, we have a number of local B&Ms supporting-

Ralph from Alternate Reality Comics- ComicsPro Board member

Jay from Maximum Comics 3 store chain

a new store openning- Stripside

with more signing on...

The Guest List we have announced so far is strong with many creators from Top Selling Comics coming to the show- from Greg Capullo on Batman to Spider-Man artists Ramos & Stegman, to Skottie Young who is responsible for a ton of those great Baby Variants. Rick Remender is on several top charting Marvel books like Uncanny Avengers, Cap, and X-Force. Gerry Duggan is an emerging voice who is writes one of the most popular characters in Deadpool...

The Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con is spotlighting a number of studios from BOOM, ASPEN, TOP COW, and more.

We have included strong venue for full families- with My Little Ponies, Adventure Time, and Disney's Phineas & Ferb attracting wider demographic, yet are still central to the current #comicmarket.

We will be adding more in the coming weeks as well for the hardcore comic collectors and the casual fans of pop culture.

As for the venue-

We took great consideration in choosing a venue that would accommodate the needs for the show. We received a positive response from locals looking for a facility that is easy to get in and out of clean, newer facility. The main hall is easy to load in and out for exhibitors, free of pillars or obstructions, with panel rooms close/joining the main hall. For Attendees there are a number of places to eat at all price points from Steak & Shake to High End Steak houses, deli, buffet and more.

It's close to the airport, with free shuttle service. It's ON Las Vegas Blvd, but has its own exit from the 15, making it a quick cab if you are looking for more night life.

I guess I'll chime in;

For everyone bashing the South Point as a location, you are severely misinformed. I'll admit it isn't the Belaggio or Caesar's as far as a venue, but I've lived in Vegas for a decade now, and if you ask anybody who knows Vegas, the South Point is leaps and bounds of a better venue than The Riviera is. I enjoyed the Riviera show last year, and I talked to most of the artists and vendors on Sunday of that show (it was only a two day show, this South Point show will be three days) and they were all very pleased with the way the show went. That was the first Vegas Con in I beleive eight years with little press, this one has far more steam as far as talk at local comic book shops and chat room talk. Someone mentioned there wouldn't be much walk-through crowd at the South Point, but I can almost guarantee you that A) the walk through crowd at a Con is insignificant anyways an B) there will be more of a walk through crowd at the South Point over the Riviera.

The epicenter of the Las Vegas Strip is LVB and Flamingo (Belaggio, Caesar's, Flamingo, Paris, Bally's) which is probably about three miles from the Riviera and six miles from the South Point, but even then the South Point is easier to get to from that point, especially when you factor in stoplights on the Strip, the option of the 215 freeway, and especially ease of parking. I would venture to guess that if you took a poll, 90% of those asked would prefer the South Point over the Riviera as a Con venue.

Alright, that's off my chest. As for the show promoter, JimmySJay put on an incredible show at the Amazing Arizona Comic Con. I bought a VIP ticket to that show and was only planning on staying Firday and Saturday, but chose to call out of work Sunday to stay one more day, and I'm very glad I did. Both Jim Lee sketches you see in my tag line are from that show, and Jim Lee did them both for free (for $38 each they were worth getting CGC slabbed IMO). The show had a great mix of modern and vintage sellers, a great artist's alley, loaded with Cosplayer's (hot chicks in tight clothing dressed as super heroes; I'm in), and I was busy so I didn't get a chance to check out any of the panels.

I'll let the cat out of the bag a little here, but I am the owner of Stripside Comics and Sportscards which will be on Las Vegas Boulevard, and my projected opening is May 1st. I will have a booth at this show and I am in talks with JimmySJay to see what kind of events I can sponsor at the show to get my name out there with the Las Vegas comic collecting community. I am exrtremely excited about this event, and I already have people on the Blowout boards lining up to send me books to be signed by Capullo and Skottie Young (I'll do it for free as long as I don't end up with 1,000 books to get signed by them).

And you may think I'm a biased Homer on my comments above, but I can personally guarantee you that I'm not, those statements are all true.

This will be my last comment- The Riveria is on the main is on the main part of the strip- across from Circus Circus and has lots of foot traffic and cars going past it. SP is remote, has zero foot traffic and next to no auto traffic on Las Vegas Blvd. Thousands of cars go past it on the parkway, but thats not the same thing.

I'm not sure how anyone measures things, but the Riveria is an easy walk from Ceasars, South Point is not. Riveria is less than a $8 cab ride from Bally's, SP is $20.

One has several bus lines stopping at either its front or back doors, the other doesn't.

SP is newer, and nicer but to try and pretend its on the main strip and accessible is a joke.

Shadroch- I'm not going to debate you. After working the event at the Riv, I can say that foot traffic was a non factor in terms of foot traffic. In terms of walking distance, Ceasars area of the strip is not a close walk, especially factoring in hauling comics and convention swag from the event. I would also say the same thing is staying at Circus Circus which has a front entrance several blocks away from the convention facilities, and same with the wynn. It has been my npersonal experience vacationing in Sin City for 20 years that walking distance and the Riv is tougher than general Google Maps would suggest. The Riv is extremely isolated in terms of other hotels, not to mention dining and entertainment options...

In terms of cabs and bus-

The airport shuttle at South Point was free. Unfortunately the Riv did not have a similar was about a $25-$35 cab. And in my trips to SP, the cab stands were always DEEP with cars and vans waiting, while the I could not always say the same while working an event at the Riv.

There are Advantages and disadvantages to each and every convention facility. We felt extremely comfortable with the choice we made at SOUTH POINT. It made sense for locals coming to the event with the ease of freeways, the exhibitors with the actual floor space, and visitors with the food options/casino/facilities. ANd this is not a knock to any of the other venues we explored, but there was nothing close to what South Point had to offer.

For comic fans, our goal with organizing and promoting AMAZING COMIC CONVENTIONS is to create a high quality experience that is efficient. We bring in top guests to the our conventions, and fill our floor with a nice variety of comic dealers. We take care and consideration to the programming to give a full weekend of fun.

More specifically, AMAZING LAS VEGAS COMIC CON is a great compliment to the local Comic Market, and I feel that more options benefit the consumers. If it's visiting the number of excellent B&M stores in the area, or attending one of the number genre shows, options are key to giving fans choices.

Just MY thoughts-

Jimmy
