BB-Gun
I was surprised too, but I looked at the Overstreet and it does mention the swipe saying "cover pose swiped from last panel of a Jan 1939 Flash Gordon Sunday page." It's January 22, 1939. Shelly did that a lot but he copied only the best. Edited February 6, 2014 by BB-Gun

So Raymond might have drawn the GL cover differently had he done it.

BB-Gun
Foster was clearly the king of the funny page. His Prince Valiant strip was full page in the sixties when others were 1/3. Edited February 8, 2014 by BB-Gun
BB-Gun
I remember the Ben Gay ads from the fifties. I think this one was a little earlier. Obviously the ads were for older people (40 or 50, Hah) and not for the kids. Edited February 8, 2014 by BB-Gun

BB-Gun
3rd appearance of Flash Gordon and 1st appearance of Ming (1/24/33) What a terrific strip that is. I cut it in half so I could enlarge it a little. We should probably show each panel separately to really enjoy it.
BB-Gun
Ming's head shrank a little with time. Trying to conquer the entire universe will do that to you. Edited February 8, 2014 by BB-Gun

BB-Gun
I may be repeating myself but those Nemo strips by McCay are wonderful.

BB-Gun
FLASH GORDON COMICS #1 from October 1950 features reprints from earlier strips. Any idea what year they might be from? mm According to the SETI says blog: Originally published between April 14, 1940 and January 12, 1941, “Power Men of Mongo” picks up the storyline where the thirteenth installment, “The Ice Kingdom of Mongo” left off. Artwork in these books is fantastic. Raymond is really flashy and the story from Harvey Flash Gordon was reprinted as the second Gordon Bread giveaway. I have three copies of #1 (two in great shape) and one copy of #2 which is a little beat up. Edited February 21, 2014 by BB-Gun
