Hey guys!

 

I've had a little bit of free time the past couple months so I decided to make a little online comic book database website. It's nothing too fancy, but it's free for anyone to use, never any ads. You can sort and search through your collection and you can see other members collections as well.

 

I was going to use it just for me, but why not share. I know there's a ton of these kinds of sites, but I wanted to see if I could make my own. :)

Because I don't want to store images locally, you will need to provide a scan or an external link to a picture of your book (using imageshack, photobucket, skydrive, dropbox, etc.) and it will pull the picture in and auto-resize it. You can click to zoom on the picture too.

 

Fill in the Title, Issue or Grade (if applicable) of your book. If your book is professionally graded by CGC, can also add in the Serial Number, Label color and Page quality. There is also fields to fill in what category the book is under, what box its filed in and you can even fill in a description or notes about the comic and/or the comic condition.

 

You can also sort your collection by Title, Issue, Grade, Label color, any heading you want. Or you can simply search for a particular issue like ‘The Walking Dead 1′ for example.

 

Once a book is entered into the system, anyone can see your collection, but only you can go back and edit it to add a better picture or description, or delete it.

Just trying it out now as I normally just use a spreadsheet but I'm looking for a simple site for tracking. I can't seem to add a book without having every section filled out, I get an error saying "NaN". I also can't seem to remove the CGC options for a raw book, they get added no matter what. Also if there's no images a white line appears where there should be one, a few hundred of those will look odd.

 

If there was also some way to remove some of the categories on the listings that I don't want on there (like the CGC or Signature) section that'd be great. And just one more thing (sorry) if its possible to add a "price paid" section which added to a total (I like to keep track of how much I spend on books) that'd be awesome.

Those are all totally possible to tweak/fix, however I can get rid of all the image box if there's no image as it would mess with the ones that do have images unfortunately. I didn't even think of removing some of the required CGC Serial # categories for raw books, good catch, thank you.

 

I thought about having a price category, but wasn't sure if I should implement it or not. I can certainly do that (thumbs u

I also made the only required items to fill in be Title, Issue, Publisher. The rest can be blank.

Everything looks fine to me, the site it up *shrug*

 

There is no email spamming, it's just for registration. If I require an email and first and last name, then the number of spam accounts really drops off.
