April sales are out

Amazing that the second issue of Sex sold so well. hm

I had that same thought! I'm guessing most were speculation preorders before #1 was released though.

Perhaps. I have noticed a disturbing trend towards naked toon porn on the Lyria Exchange website lately (I had to filter Grim and Nyce titles because young kids visit the website). So maybe Sex is just keeping to this trend. (shrug)

Two of my favorite reads...

Think Tank....didn't crack the top 300 again (unless I missed it)

Lookouts....increased from last month, but still a minuscule print run

Someday they might join the cool kids in the top 300

As for the comics in question, those are GREAT numbers for second issue sales. Obviously, those are all speculator loved books, but it does show continued faith in the titles.

Bedlam actually had really strong issue #2 sales, before tanking on issue 3. It's definitely worth watching, but it looks like East of West demand is going to be staying strong for the forseeable future.

The question now is, who is holding the supply, is it people looking to sell and will keep the supply high on ebay, or does it start to thin out as people hold or collect.

Mate - respect and all that... :blahblah: :blahblah:

You have no more idea than the mailman what's going to do what, where and when.

Seriously - rein in the ego.

What does ego have to do with anything? He's just putting his opinion out there. If he's right, he's right. If he's wrong, someone will quote it 8 months from now and he will look like a buffoon.

It's interesting to see that the $1 reprint of Mind MGMT #1 sold 9,926 copies while issue 10 only sold 5,842. I would think if people liked the first issue you will start to see an increase in sales for the subsequent issues and higher demand for the earlier non #1 issues.

Some fans of the book bought multiple copies of the reprint to hand out to friends

Maybe because the newbs are taking the word of CBT as gospel.

That's not something I am comfortable with.

Is it because he is too much like you? This is you pontificating on Uber:

1) Propaganda

2) Blitzkrieg

3) Standard

4) Wrap around.

All are good for the "6 month rule", and if the book grows as it should, then so should sold prices.

Strong but steady sustainable growth.

Hopefully be a $125 + CGC 9.8 blue by then.

Avatar only put out 4 covers, which seems to be the norm for any modern that is doing well.

It seems kind of silly for one guy who is willing to lay his unmentionables on the table to dress another guy down for doing the exact same thing. You both are pretty deep in the spec game, and communicate forcefully and well. Anyone that can't separate the chaff from the wheat should probably be wearing a white helmet around.

Hey Andy,

I dont think I was really predicting anything there, so not sure how I was having an ego? Here is my post you quoted, chopped into my points. I bolded the only two things I think you could be referring to.

1.) "As for the comics in question, those are GREAT numbers for second issue sales."

2.) "Obviously, those are all speculator loved books, but it does show continued faith in the titles."

3.) "Bedlam actually had really strong issue #2 sales, before tanking on issue 3."

4.) "It's definitely worth watching, but it looks like East of West demand is going to be staying strong for the forseeable future."

5.) "The question now is, who is holding the supply, is it people looking to sell and will keep the supply high on ebay, or does it start to thin out as people hold or collect."

i.) The first bolded thing, that is my opinion on sales run data from month to month. Even more so when its books being speculated on.

ii.) The second bolded thing, is just my view on the situation. Everyone knows there is massive speculation in East of West. The number 2 issue sales held up, the reviews are good, I dont see speculators moving out any time soon. Hence, "for the foreseeable future"

If what you objected to was not what I bolded, then let me know and I'll clarify, but I think the rest are facts no opinion.

I was totally out of line - my bad.

Apologies. :foryou:

100% spot on - as I said to CBT - my bad.

Apologies.

Bright side - 48 hrs to go - and my Night rotation is over - yay.

No excuse for rudeness - again - :foryou:

lol , Well, people are going to decide what they decide, based on the merits of what they read. I always try to give my true unbiased opinion on books and trends. I never "adjust" it for what I personal own or am trying to sell/hoard.

If people appreciate what I have to say, that's great. But trust me, I get equal parts hate and love.

I definitely express my opinions strongly, but that's just who I am. I generally have pretty strong convictions behind what I say. I am definitely deep in the spec game in terms of time spent discussing, studying, etc, etc. But in terms of actual money, you would be surprised.

Prior to January of this year, I have never sold a comic. I have always been one who speculates to build value in my collection, get ahead of the curve, etc, not to flip. That being said, from January forward, I have sold probably about $5-$6K worth of comics, for which I paid $2-$2.5K. I only started selling due to personal issues, (family health issue), but most of that money I have pushed forward into more books. I havent paid for my 30 issue pull list, or 6x9.8 subscription list out of pocket since 2012, and I have about 200 modern 9.8 candidates waiting to be press slabbed. That's small potatoes compared to what big time slabbers like Andy are moving.

My focus is on knowledge, and my goal is to share it as much as possible. The more people are educated, the better the market will be long term. I am very happy if I can help save people from over paying for books. More than anything, that is my hope with what I post. We have all been burned with books we overpaid for, I want to help other people avoid getting burned.
