Ripples on inside of case?

7 posts in this topic

I just got a slabbed book in the mail. It has ripples all on the inside of the case. Will these go away Im assuming it has something to do with the heat. Any experience with this would be appreciated.

If it's that oil look you're talking about, here's Gemma from cgc on this subject from 11/02/11:

"This is an occasional effect produced by the inner and outer cases being in direct contact with one another. The visual effect is similar to oil on a water puddle because of the two plastics. If you gently seperate the two pieces or insert a piece of paper in the side of the case, this should remove this effect. Ultimately it is not anything that is in direct contact with your comic, nor will it affect the comic's condition over time. If you prefer to send it in for our ReHolder service, you will be charged for the replacement of the case and return shipping."

No, I think he is referring to something else. I have seen a few books come back from CGC recently that have a circular rippled/warped/crumpled look on the middle of the back cover area. It's usually about the size of a fist.

I think someone posted a pic of this a month or more ago.

If I'm remembering the picture, that seemed like a qc failure to me and I think he should have returned the slab for them to fix it. I'm not sure whether he did, though. I have never encountered that problem although I do have a few slabs with the "oil and water" thing, which is more of a grin and bear it problem.
