tonytiger
Ugh, this business trip is killing me! Again, I'll post some clean scans of the #1's when I get back, but in the interim I stumbled across this pic on my laptop that I took a while back of my 1-20 run. Unreal archie collection!!! Mighty impressive!!!

gadzukes
Ok... I finally found a few free minutes in the week ... don't ask how cause I'm not really sure myself! Here are my Archie 1's up close and personal: Those are amazing. Do we get to see the back covers? Is the yellow streak in the 1st photo on the comic or some kind of photo glare? GoldenPRGuy
Sure, I can scan the backs tonight! Only reason I didn't is because I never took the books out of the Mylar and they had the boards behind them. Not sure what that streak is to be honest. Always been there. I always assumed some odd kind of fading, as it's not paint or marker.
teknorebel-migration
[font:Fixedsys]Does anyone think it's odd that the same dealer who sold the restored 8.0 copy of Archie #1 back in Feb, has now relisted the book for sale again on ebay. The May Heritage Auction of this book went for only $9,000. The guy buys the same comic back at a fraction of what he sold it for, then relists it once again at $24,500. Go back to page 8 in this link, to see the unrestored "before" pics that were posted the week of the Heritage Auction. Coincidence that the leaked photos lowered the value of the comic, or does the whole thing sound a little suspicious? Archie Comics #1 CGC 8.0 ® [/font] It sold for $10,755 in the HA auction not $9000. But I guess maybe it didn't sell if it's up on ebay again. How does that work? Can sellers decide not to sell once the HA auction is over? Or can sellers put minimum reserves on their own items? Or did the seller actually bid on his own item? I actually thought it went a little low in the HA auction (I was thinking it would go for $15k-$18k) but many board members thought it went for the right price considering the amount of work that was done to it. gadzukes
And you have no compulsion to repost the before-restoraton pics this time? No that wont happen again. I posted photos because I had just gotten my Archie 1 back from CGC and I was a little upset with the grade I got, especially when I compared mine to that one, both before & after resto. I was so stoked with the amazing resto job that CCS performed on my Archie 1 that I was shocked that it didn't at least match the 8.0 the other had. I thought mine looked nicer so I was a little upset. Truthfully, I had a rough year with subbing my comics to CGC. I think we can all agree they've been a little tighter on their grading this last year. Unfortunately, I picked the wrong year to submit the majority of my comics so I was disappointed with about 85% of the grades I got. Having said all of this.... it sure would be nice if any time you bought a restored comic, especially "extensive", you could see a before shot of the comic. As it is though, I love it.

gadzukes
7 copies now accounted for on the boards. CGC only has 35 copies on their census. It would be cool to account for them all here.
