1/4 inch detached piece off of comic

Hey everyone. I recently purchase a beat up copy of X-men #1. There is about a 1/4 inch piece of the comic detached from the spine on the front cover. I have the piece still. And I wanted to get it graded.

 

Would you advise that i leave it as is or use tape to reattach it? If i do use tape, i know that CGC will make note of it on the label...how about if i decide to not use tape? will CGC still make note of the detached piece in the label. thanks for the guidance!

Or use archival tape, once CGC's position is established.

CGC's stance on tape and archival tape are still evolving. This is worth waiting on.

This is not a book that I would do any kind of restoration, pressing, or taping on. No matter what CGC's stance is on it.

Will CGC include the piece in the slab? If it starts to move, you'll never get it back in place again...

I would hope that they would make a best-efforts attempt to do so. But the book is handled by many people during the course of processing - it may just get lost.
