Charity Thread For OKC Tornado Moore, OK

Starting this thread to try to raise funds for essentials for victims of the tornado that went through Moore, OK earlier today. Reports estimate at one point it was a mile wide. Reportedly 53 killed. My wife and I are planning to buy some basic essentials tomorrow to send down.

 

Not much time to scan so I'm going to just post some mystery boxes. Assorted titles, ages, and publishers. Ten boxes $150 each.

Thank you both! I realize we generally do these types of threads when it impacts someone in our online community. This is less than two hours from me so it is to me a part of my community. I appreciate any contribution. Reports this morning say at least 90 dead with 40 of those being children. Truly heartbreaking.

Cool idea, I'm like 10 minutes away from the damage. My first library job was in the branch like 50 yards from where it crossed I35 and 15 of my coworkers were in that building yesterday. So far I know of 4 or 5 co-workers who have damaged homes, some a total loss. Luckily so far everyone is accounted for.

 

My brother lives like a mile from the damage and his 3 kids go to several schools in Moore.

 

Everything I'm seeing says they need money for emergency response and O+ blood. They are asking people to stay away and to avoid buying items that will need to be sorted, stored, and moved around.

 

I assume they will ask for volunteers for clean up once the search and rescue is over and people have secured what property they can. Right now they don't want a bunch of people hampering the professionals.

 

I think people are mostly still in shock.
